FurnitureIndustry – Porbandar Set to Host Major Summit on Global Manufacturing Growth
FurnitureIndustry – Porbandar is preparing to host a significant industry-focused gathering as the “Viksit Porbandar Furniture Park Summit” is scheduled to take place on June 13 and 14, 2026. The event is being organized with the objective of exploring opportunities to establish a large-scale furniture manufacturing hub in the coastal city and strengthen its position in the industrial sector.

Focus on Development of Proposed Furniture Park
The two-day summit will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, business representatives, and government officials to discuss the proposed Mega Furniture Park project. Participants are expected to exchange ideas on infrastructure requirements, long-term planning, investment opportunities, and strategies that could support the development of a competitive manufacturing ecosystem in the region.
The discussions will also examine how Porbandar can leverage its existing strengths and resources to attract domestic and international businesses associated with furniture production and related industries.
Senior Leaders to Participate in Discussions
The event will be attended by several prominent public representatives, including Union Minister and Porbandar Member of Parliament Mansukh Mandaviya and Gujarat Government Minister and Porbandar MLA Arjun Modhwadia. Their presence is expected to provide policy guidance and encourage collaboration between industry stakeholders and government departments.
Organizers believe the summit could become an important platform for shaping future industrial growth plans and enhancing the economic profile of the district.
Broad Industry Representation Expected
More than 50 delegates from different parts of Gujarat have been invited to attend the summit. The participant list includes furniture manufacturers, entrepreneurs, representatives from supporting industries, business associations, and chambers of commerce.
In addition to domestic stakeholders, representatives from several international organizations and well-known brands are also expected to take part. Among them are Steve Hickling from the British Deputy High Commission in Ahmedabad and delegates associated with companies such as IKEA, Hettich, Merino, Royal Touch Laminates, Medoc, Aemor, and Dato Sanso.
Industry bodies including the Gujarat Timber Merchant Association, Gujarat Timber Auction Association, Gujarat Green Economic Chamber, and Porbandar-based trade organizations are also expected to contribute to the discussions.
Government Departments to Present Project Framework
Recognizing the need for coordinated planning, senior officials from key Gujarat government departments, including industries, ports, and local administration, will participate in the summit. These officials are expected to outline the institutional framework required for the proposed project and discuss measures needed to ensure effective coordination among various agencies.
The sessions will focus on identifying practical solutions and development pathways that could help advance the Furniture Park proposal.
Delegates to Inspect Proposed Project Site
As part of the summit agenda, visiting delegates from India and overseas will tour the proposed Furniture Park location on June 14. The site near Bharwada, close to Porbandar, has been identified as a potential location for the project.
During the visit, participants will review the area’s development potential and assess infrastructure plans that may support future industrial activities. The inspection is expected to provide stakeholders with a clearer understanding of the project’s scope and opportunities.
Cultural Showcase to Highlight Regional Identity
Alongside business discussions, the local administration has planned activities aimed at introducing guests to the heritage of the Saurashtra region. Delegates will be welcomed through cultural programmes and hospitality initiatives designed to showcase local traditions, art forms, and community values.
Officials believe these efforts will help create stronger connections between visiting investors and the region.
Investment and Employment Prospects
The summit is being viewed as an important step toward attracting investment in the furniture manufacturing sector. If the proposed project moves forward, it could contribute to job creation, encourage industrial diversification, and strengthen economic activity across the region.
Industry observers see the event as an opportunity to connect local capabilities with international business networks while laying the groundwork for future manufacturing growth. The discussions scheduled for June 13 and 14 may play a key role in defining the next phase of Porbandar’s industrial development journey.
