ElectionUpdate – Owaisi Calls for Careful Preparation Ahead of Telangana Voter List Revision
ElectionUpdate – AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has urged residents across Telangana to remain alert and ensure that all required documents are in order as the state prepares for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He stressed that accurate documentation would help prevent errors and complications during the voter verification process.

Focus on Electoral Record Verification
Addressing local residents on Wednesday, Owaisi explained that authorities are conducting detailed verification of voter records. According to him, individuals whose names were not included in the 2002 voter list but appeared in the 2024 parliamentary electoral rolls are being asked to provide supporting information related to their family background and identity records.
He said officials are collecting details connected to parents, grandparents, and earlier generations to establish consistency in electoral records. People whose names are absent from earlier voter lists are also being advised to gather and organize their personal documents to facilitate the verification exercise.
Concerns Over Data Irregularities
Owaisi pointed out that certain discrepancies are being marked during the scrutiny process. He noted that cases involving unusual age differences between family members are attracting attention from election authorities.
According to him, situations where a father and child have a relatively small age gap are being highlighted as potential anomalies. He also claimed that some families have been informed about limitations in the recording of family details, leading to concerns among residents. In view of such issues, he emphasized the need for citizens to carefully review and prepare all supporting documents before the verification process begins.
Telangana Set for Special Intensive Revision
The Election Commission had earlier announced the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision exercise across 16 states and three Union Territories. In Telangana, the process is scheduled to commence on June 15.
The revision aims to update and verify voter information to maintain the accuracy of electoral rolls. Authorities are expected to review records and address discrepancies identified during the exercise.
Owaisi Links Exercise to Citizenship Concerns
A day earlier, Owaisi described the verification drive as a matter that extends beyond electoral administration. He said the process carries significance for citizens and urged people to work together to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the rolls.
He appealed to residents to actively participate in the verification exercise and assist those who may face difficulties in gathering the required documents.
Help Centres Providing Assistance
Highlighting efforts made by his party, Owaisi said AIMIM has established assistance centres in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana to support citizens with voter-related documentation and queries.
He stated that a large number of people have visited these centres in recent weeks seeking guidance on paperwork, voter registration concerns, and verification requirements. The facilities, he added, are intended to help residents navigate the process smoothly.
Call for a Fair and Inclusive Process
Reaffirming his position, Owaisi said support should be extended to all eligible citizens regardless of their political views, religion, or social background. He stressed that every genuine voter should have an opportunity to secure a place on the electoral rolls through a transparent, impartial, and efficient verification process.
The AIMIM leader concluded by encouraging citizens to remain informed and proactive so that their electoral records remain accurate during the upcoming revision exercise.
