Leaders Assemble for National Policy Meeting

The annual Governing Council meeting serves as an important platform for cooperation between the Centre and states on major governance and development issues. Chief ministers from multiple states are expected to attend the discussions. Among them is Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who remained in the national capital after attending the NDA meeting held a day earlier and is scheduled to participate in the NITI Aayog session.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has also arrived in New Delhi to take part in the meeting, highlighting the significance of the event for state governments seeking to contribute to policy planning at the national level.

Vijay Holds Meetings With National Leaders

Ahead of the Governing Council meeting, Vijay met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan as part of his engagements in the capital. He also held separate discussions with Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress party remains an important ally in the ruling coalition led by Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu. Political observers view these interactions as part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation among alliance partners.

Three-Day Delhi Visit Includes Discussions With CPI

During his three-day visit to the national capital, Vijay also met senior leaders of the Communist Party of India at Ajoy Bhawan. The discussions involved CPI General Secretary D. Raja, National Secretariat member Rama Krushna Panda, and senior party leaders Pallab Sengupta and K. Narayana.

The CPI is another coalition partner in the Tamil Nadu government and plays a role in supporting the alliance’s political agenda. The meetings reflected ongoing coordination among parties associated with the state administration.

Focus on Human Development and Employment

According to NITI Aayog, the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi will focus on improving citizens’ quality of life while encouraging entrepreneurship and economic participation. Policymakers are expected to discuss strategies aimed at generating employment opportunities, strengthening workforce capabilities, and supporting long-term economic growth.

This year’s theme, “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047,” places emphasis on ensuring that development benefits every section of society. The framework seeks to address the needs of people across different age groups, regions, genders, and economic backgrounds.

Four Pillars of the Development Framework

NITI Aayog stated that the proposed framework is built around four major areas. These include strengthening human capital and preparing citizens with future-oriented skills, promoting productive employment and entrepreneurship, improving health and nutrition outcomes, and ensuring equity and dignity for all sections of society.

The discussions are expected to help shape policy directions that support India’s long-term development vision while encouraging inclusive and sustainable growth across states. Leaders attending the meeting are likely to exchange views on practical measures that can contribute to achieving these objectives over the coming decades.
