Survivor Sustains Serious Injuries During Escape

Among those recovering is 32-year-old Vishal from Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, who suffered severe injuries while trying to escape the burning building. Vishal had traveled to Delhi around a week ago for treatment related to a back problem and had been attending physiotherapy sessions at Max Hospital.

To remain close to the medical facility during his treatment, he had checked into a budget hotel in Malviya Nagar. However, what began as a routine medical visit quickly turned into a life-threatening situation when a fire broke out at the property on Wednesday.

Desperate Attempt to Save His Life

Speaking outside the hospital, Vishal’s brother Sagar described the terrifying moments during the incident. According to him, Vishal had been staying at the hotel for several days while undergoing treatment.

As the flames spread rapidly through the building, Vishal reportedly found himself trapped on an upper floor. In a desperate bid to survive, he broke a window and jumped from the building. While the decision helped him escape the fire, the fall resulted in multiple serious injuries.

Family members said Vishal suffered a spinal fracture along with deep cuts on his hands that required medical attention and stitches. Doctors continue to monitor his condition as he remains under treatment at Max Hospital.

Family Rushes to Delhi After Learning of Incident

The news of the fire prompted immediate concern among Vishal’s relatives. Family members traveled from Ludhiana to Delhi as soon as they learned about the tragedy and his injuries.

Despite the difficult circumstances, relatives expressed relief that Vishal survived the incident. The focus for the family remains his recovery rather than the financial challenges that have followed.

Hospital officials have estimated that his treatment expenses have already exceeded Rs 90,000. However, family members said medical costs are not their primary concern at this stage.

Relief Overshadows Financial Concerns

Vijay Kumar, Vishal’s brother-in-law, said the family considers his survival the greatest blessing after such a catastrophic event. He noted that financial burdens can be managed over time, but losing a loved one would have been far more devastating.

The family continues to remain by Vishal’s side as doctors work toward his recovery. They described the incident as an unimaginable turn of events for someone who had simply traveled to the capital for medical care.

Hospital Reflects Ongoing Impact of Tragedy

The atmosphere at Max Hospital on Thursday reflected the broader impact of the fire. Relatives of survivors and victims gathered outside hospital wards, hoping for positive news and updates from medical teams.

As investigations into the cause of the blaze continue, the personal stories emerging from the tragedy underline the devastating toll it has taken on dozens of families. For survivors like Vishal, the path ahead involves both physical recovery and coming to terms with a traumatic experience that changed lives in a matter of moments.
