FireSafety – Early Morning Blaze at South Delhi Office Building Injures Firefighters
FireSafety – A fire incident at a commercial office building in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash-I area during the early hours of Friday left two firefighters injured while emergency teams worked to contain the flames. Authorities confirmed that no occupants of the building were harmed in the incident.
Fire Detected in Third-Floor Technical Facility
According to officials from the Delhi Fire Services, the blaze originated inside a battery storage room situated on the third floor of a multi-storey office complex. The building houses the office of Tata Communications and is located opposite the well-known Savitri Cinema in the GK-1 locality.
Emergency services were alerted about the fire at approximately 2:47 a.m. Soon after receiving the distress call, multiple firefighting units were dispatched to the site to prevent the situation from escalating.
Extensive Firefighting Operation Conducted
Authorities stated that 11 fire tenders were mobilized for the operation. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the situation under control and stop the flames from spreading to other sections of the structure.
Initial assessments revealed that the fire remained limited to the battery room, affecting an area of nearly 200 square feet on the third floor. Quick action by emergency personnel helped prevent damage to additional floors and adjoining office spaces.
Two Firefighters Sustain Injuries
During the firefighting operation, two personnel suffered burn injuries to their hands while tackling the blaze. Officials said both injured firefighters were immediately transported to Safdarjung Hospital, where they received medical treatment.
No injuries were reported among employees, security staff, or other civilians. Authorities also confirmed that there were no fatalities linked to the incident.
Cooling Measures Continued After Fire Control
The affected property consists of a ground floor and five upper floors. Fire officials reported that the blaze was successfully controlled by around 7:00 a.m.
Following containment, teams remained at the location to carry out cooling procedures aimed at eliminating residual heat and reducing the possibility of the fire reigniting. Such measures are considered a standard part of firefighting operations in commercial buildings where electrical equipment is present.
Investigation Into Cause Underway
Officials have not yet determined the exact reason behind the fire. A detailed examination of the affected area is expected to be conducted to identify the source of ignition and assess whether any technical faults or safety issues contributed to the incident.

Officials have been carrying out checks aimed at ensuring compliance with fire prevention norms, emergency evacuation procedures, and equipment maintenance requirements.
