Admissions – NTA Extends Refund Details Submission Window for NEET-UG Candidates
Admissions – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided additional time for candidates of NEET-UG 2026 to submit their bank account information for the refund of examination fees. The deadline, which was earlier set to close in May, has now been extended until June 22, 2026. The decision comes after the cancellation of the medical entrance examination following allegations of a question paper leak and ahead of the scheduled re-examination.

Refund Process Open for Eligible Candidates
After announcing that NEET-UG 2026 would be conducted again on June 21, the NTA clarified that students would not have to pay any fee for the fresh examination. The agency also assured candidates that the amount paid for the cancelled test would be returned through a refund process.
To facilitate the refund, the NTA had enabled a dedicated option on the NEET-UG 2026 registration portal, allowing candidates to enter their preferred bank account details. This facility was initially available from May 22 to May 26.
Around 13 Lakh Candidates Have Submitted Details
In an update issued on Wednesday through the social media platform X, the agency stated that nearly 13 lakh candidates have already completed the process of submitting their banking information. However, considering that many students are yet to provide the required details, the submission window has now been extended.
According to the NTA, the move is intended to ensure that all eligible candidates receive sufficient time to complete the formalities necessary for the refund process.
How Candidates Can Complete the Process
Students who appeared for NEET-UG 2026 can access the official registration portal using their login credentials and submit the required bank account information through the refund section available on the website.
The agency has also advised candidates that they may upload a cancelled cheque if they wish to verify the accuracy of the account information being submitted. This additional step can help reduce the possibility of errors during the refund process.
No Changes Allowed After Submission
The NTA has made it clear that once candidates submit their bank account details, the information will be considered final. No further corrections or modifications will be permitted after the submission is completed.
The extended facility will remain available until 11:50 PM on June 22, 2026. Candidates who have not yet updated their information have been encouraged to complete the process before the deadline to avoid any delay in receiving their refunds.
Background of the Examination Cancellation
NEET-UG 2026, the country’s largest medical entrance examination for undergraduate medical admissions, was conducted on May 3. However, the examination was cancelled by the NTA on May 12 after allegations emerged regarding a possible paper leak.
The controversy led to widespread concern among students and parents, prompting authorities to order a fresh examination. The re-test has been scheduled for June 21, while the investigation into the alleged irregularities continues.
CBI Investigation Underway
The alleged paper leak case is currently being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The agency is examining the circumstances surrounding the reported breach and gathering evidence related to the matter.
Meanwhile, the NTA has continued preparations for the re-examination and the refund process, aiming to ensure that candidates face minimal inconvenience as they prepare for the upcoming test.
