PowerSupply – Yogi Adityanath Defends Uttar Pradesh Energy Management Amid Opposition Criticism

PowerSupply –  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday strongly responded to allegations made by opposition parties regarding the state’s electricity situation, asserting that the present administration has significantly improved power distribution compared to previous governments.

Yogi defends up power management crisis

The Chief Minister made these remarks during a foundation stone laying ceremony for welfare and civic development projects worth Rs 413 crore organised by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

CM Yogi Targets Opposition Over Electricity Claims

Addressing the gathering, Yogi Adityanath accused opposition leaders of attempting to create unnecessary concern over electricity shortages in the state. Referring to the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government, he claimed that electricity supply conditions were far worse during that period.

According to the Chief Minister, there were times in the past when power lines remained unused because electricity supply was highly irregular. He stated that residents had experienced prolonged outages and inconsistent distribution schedules under earlier administrations.

Yogi Adityanath also alleged that electricity distribution in previous years lacked uniformity across districts, with supply patterns changing frequently between day and night hours. He said such practices created inconvenience for citizens and reflected poor management of essential services.

Government Claims Improvement in Power Distribution

Highlighting the current government’s approach, the Chief Minister said the BJP-led administration is committed to maintaining stable electricity supply across Uttar Pradesh. He noted that authorities are actively working to resolve technical disruptions and ensure smooth operations at power stations.

The Chief Minister stated that review meetings regarding electricity management are being conducted regularly and that officials have been directed to address challenges promptly. He added that temporary shutdowns or larger national power-related issues should be viewed with patience while departments work on solutions.

His comments came shortly after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav raised concerns over recurring power cuts in several areas of the state.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma recently stated that the state had achieved record electricity supply levels, describing it as the highest power distribution performance in Uttar Pradesh so far.

Appeal for Public Cooperation During Challenges

During his speech, Yogi Adityanath urged citizens to support the Power Corporation while efforts are underway to manage electricity-related issues. He stressed that handling such challenges should not be viewed as the responsibility of the department alone.

The Chief Minister said cooperation between the government and citizens is necessary for maintaining public services effectively. He also criticised the culture of political blame games, saying constructive support is more important during difficult situations.

Referring to the “double-engine government” phrase commonly used by the BJP, he asserted that the administration focuses on finding practical solutions rather than avoiding problems.

Chief Minister Raises Concern Over Damage to Public Property

Apart from discussing electricity management, Yogi Adityanath also spoke about the importance of protecting public property. He criticised incidents involving theft and misuse of civic installations, saying such behaviour damages the city’s appearance and wastes public resources.

Sharing an incident during his address, the Chief Minister mentioned that CCTV surveillance had captured the owner of a luxury vehicle allegedly stealing a flower pot from a public area. He remarked that the individual could have purchased a new flower pot at a minimal cost instead of removing public property.

According to Yogi Adityanath, modern surveillance systems installed across cities are helping authorities monitor such activities more effectively. He added that maintaining civic discipline and respecting public spaces are responsibilities shared by all citizens.

His remarks on the flower pot incident drew laughter from people attending the programme, though he used the example to underline the importance of civic awareness and responsible behaviour in urban areas.
