Triple Collision Near Laling Ghat

According to police officials, the crash involved a sand-laden dumper, a truck, and a private passenger travel vehicle. Initial reports indicate that six people died instantly at the scene, while another victim later succumbed to injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital.

Authorities said the accident took place in the early hours when the dumper reportedly lost control while moving through the ghat stretch. Investigators believe the heavy vehicle was travelling at high speed before it rammed into a truck ahead. Moments later, a private travel vehicle approaching from behind crashed into the damaged vehicles, leading to a severe chain collision.

Rescue Teams Rushed to the Spot

Local residents and highway police quickly arrived at the accident site after receiving information about the crash. Rescue teams worked for several hours to pull injured passengers out of the damaged vehicles and shift them to nearby medical facilities.

Officials confirmed that around 10 to 12 people sustained serious injuries in the collision. Some of the injured are currently undergoing treatment in government hospitals, and a few remain in critical condition. Emergency medical teams were deployed immediately to provide first aid and transport victims for urgent care.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with damaged vehicle parts scattered across the highway and traffic coming to a complete halt for a considerable period.

Traffic Movement Affected on Highway

The accident led to heavy congestion on the Mumbai-Agra route, a major transport corridor frequently used by commercial and passenger vehicles. Traffic movement remained disrupted for several hours as police and emergency workers carried out rescue operations and cleared debris from the roadway.

Cranes and recovery vehicles were later brought in to remove the heavily damaged dumper, truck, and travel vehicle from the highway. Officials managed to gradually restore traffic flow after the rescue and clearance operations were completed.

Investigation Into Cause Underway

Police have started a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the collision. Authorities are examining whether overspeeding, mechanical failure, or driver negligence played a role in the crash.

Officers are also collecting statements from survivors and eyewitnesses to better understand how the accident unfolded. The condition of the vehicles involved is expected to be examined as part of the inquiry.

Road accidents involving heavy vehicles have remained a serious concern across several highway stretches in Maharashtra, particularly in hilly and ghat regions where visibility and vehicle control become more challenging.

Growing Concerns Over Highway Safety

The latest incident has once again raised concerns regarding road safety measures on busy national highways. Local residents and commuters have frequently demanded stricter speed monitoring and better traffic enforcement in accident-prone zones like Laling Ghat.

Authorities have urged motorists to maintain safe speeds and exercise caution while travelling through ghat sections, especially during high traffic hours. Officials said further action will be taken after the investigation report is completed.
