CrimeNews – Delhi Police Injure Double Murder Accused During Govindpuri Encounter
CrimeNews – A man accused in a double murder case involving a woman and her son was injured during a police operation in South Delhi’s Govindpuri area on Wednesday, according to officials.

Police Operation Turns Violent
The accused, identified as Saurabh, was reportedly being tracked by the Anti-Narcotics Team of the South-East District. Police said the team had received information about his presence in the Ghati Park locality, where he was allegedly consuming narcotics at the time of the operation.
Officials stated that law enforcement personnel moved in to surround the area and asked the suspect to surrender peacefully. However, the situation escalated after the accused allegedly opened fire at the police team upon noticing their presence.
Exchange of Fire During Encounter
According to police sources, the accused fired four rounds during the confrontation. In response, officers returned fire in what they described as an act of self-defence. During the exchange, Saurabh sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
Police personnel immediately took the injured suspect into custody and shifted him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that he remains under supervision while further legal procedures continue.
Connection to Double Murder Case
Investigators said the accused was wanted in connection with the killing of a mother and her son, a case that had drawn significant attention in the area. Officials have not yet disclosed additional details regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the murders.
The latest encounter is being viewed as a major development in the investigation, as police continue efforts to gather more evidence linked to the crime. Senior officers are expected to review the sequence of events surrounding the operation.
Probe Into Encounter Underway
Delhi Police confirmed that an inquiry into the encounter has been initiated, following standard procedure in cases involving exchange of fire between police personnel and accused individuals. Forensic teams and investigators are examining the scene to collect ballistic and other evidence.
Authorities have also indicated that statements from the police team involved in the operation will be recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. Additional details are likely to emerge after preliminary reports are completed.
Recent Rise in Police Encounters
The latest incident comes days after another encounter involving Delhi Police and suspected criminals in the national capital. On May 10, police teams from the Central District reportedly exchanged fire with suspects during an operation, resulting in injuries to two alleged criminals.
Law enforcement agencies in Delhi have intensified action against organised crime and narcotics-related offences in recent months. Officials maintain that such operations are carried out based on intelligence inputs and under established legal procedures.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in parts of South Delhi following Wednesday’s incident. Police presence in the Govindpuri area remained visible as investigators continued their work at the encounter site.
