Crime – Ghaziabad Police Launch Probe After Bail Rally Causes Traffic Disruption
Crime – A fresh controversy has emerged in Ghaziabad after police registered another case against a rape accused and several of his supporters over a roadshow organised shortly after his release from jail. Authorities alleged that the public celebration disrupted traffic movement and created inconvenience for commuters in multiple areas of the city.

Procession Held After Release From Jail
According to police officials, Sushil Prajapati walked out of Dasna jail on May 17 after securing bail in a rape case that had been under investigation since August 2025. Soon after his release, a large group of supporters gathered outside the jail premises and welcomed him with flower petals before taking out a celebratory procession through nearby roads.
Police said Prajapati was lifted onto the shoulders of supporters while several vehicles accompanied the rally. Videos circulating online reportedly showed crowds moving through busy stretches, leading to traffic congestion and public criticism over the manner in which the celebration was conducted.
Traffic Movement Allegedly Affected
Officials stated that the procession created major disruptions for daily commuters. Several vehicles participating in the rally were allegedly driven carelessly, while supporters reportedly occupied portions of the road, slowing down regular traffic flow in the area.
After social media clips of the event gained attention, police initiated legal action and filed an FIR at Masuri Police Station. Authorities said the case includes allegations related to obstruction of public movement and activities affecting public safety.
Masuri Station House Officer Ajay Kumar said investigators are reviewing CCTV recordings and online video footage to identify all those who participated in the rally. Police teams are also examining vehicle details and gathering additional evidence connected to the incident.
Earlier Rape Case Remains Under Investigation
The latest development comes while the original rape case against Prajapati is still under legal proceedings. The complaint was filed on August 8, 2025, by a law student studying for an LLB degree.
According to the FIR registered earlier at Muradnagar Police Station, the woman alleged that Prajapati sexually assaulted her inside a flat located in Muradnagar. She claimed that she had been given a cold drink suspected to contain intoxicating substances before the alleged incident took place.
Police records further stated that the accused had known the complainant since 2021. Investigators said the woman alleged that Prajapati convinced her to shift her legal practice from Meerut to Ghaziabad by assuring professional support and promising introductions to senior lawyers in the region.
Social Media Videos Trigger Public Debate
The viral clips from the procession sparked criticism from several social media users who questioned the public display organised for an accused person currently facing serious criminal charges. Many users also raised concerns over traffic management and public order during the rally.
Police officials maintained that no one would be allowed to violate traffic regulations or disturb public movement regardless of the occasion. Authorities added that strict action would be taken against individuals found responsible for creating disorder on public roads.
Investigators are expected to continue examining digital evidence and identifying additional people involved in the procession over the coming days. Officials have not yet disclosed the total number of accused persons who may eventually be named in the case.
