CrimeInvestigation – A 25-year-old woman lost her life after reportedly falling from a residential building in West Delhi’s Inderpuri locality, prompting police to register a dowry death case and arrest two members of her husband’s family. Officials confirmed on Wednesday that the woman’s husband and his younger brother have been taken into custody as the investigation continues.
Police Responded After Emergency Call
According to investigators, police control room officials received an emergency call on May 18 informing them that a woman had fallen from a building located in Dasghara village. A police team immediately reached the area and shifted the injured woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors later declared her dead on arrival.
The deceased woman was identified as the wife of 27-year-old Raju Singh, police officials said. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the woman’s name.
Dowry Death Provisions Invoked
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Bhaskar stated that legal procedures related to dowry death were initiated because the marriage had taken place within the legally significant period of seven years. Under such circumstances, law enforcement agencies are required to conduct a detailed inquiry into the death.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Karol Bagh for further proceedings. Statements from the woman’s family members were recorded as part of the official inquiry process.
Forensic Teams Examined the Spot
Police said forensic experts and crime investigation teams from Rohini district visited the location where the incident occurred. Evidence was collected from the building and surrounding area to help determine the sequence of events leading to the woman’s death.
Investigators also relied on the post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday. Based on the findings of the inquiry, statements from relatives, and other collected evidence, a criminal case was registered under Sections 80 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The case has been filed against the husband and his two brothers, officials confirmed.
Husband and Brother Arrested
Following the registration of the case, police carried out immediate action and arrested Raju Singh along with his younger brother Rajkumar, aged 22. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to trace and question other individuals linked to the matter.
Officials added that investigators are examining all possible angles, including allegations made by the victim’s family regarding harassment connected to dowry demands.
Investigation Continues in Inderpuri Case
The incident has once again drawn attention to dowry-related crimes and the legal safeguards available for married women in India. Police said further questioning, forensic analysis, and examination of witness statements are underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
