Crime Report – Pune Father Arrested After Daughter Killed, Son Survives Forest Ordeal
Crime Report – A disturbing case from Pune district has shocked local residents after a father was arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his two young children following prolonged family troubles. The incident took place in Ale Khind area of Junnar taluka, where a three-year-old girl lost her life while her elder brother managed to survive and alert locals about the horrifying events.

Police Investigation Reveals Disturbing Sequence
According to investigators, the accused has been identified as 29-year-old Sagar Sadashiv Shinde, a resident of Gaikwad Vasti in Moshi. Police officials stated that his wife had reportedly left the house nearly seven months earlier and moved back to her parents’ residence, leaving him to care for the children alone. Authorities believe the man had been under severe emotional stress and was struggling to manage the responsibility of raising the children by himself.
Officials said Shinde allegedly took his son Aryan, aged five, and daughter Harshada, aged three-and-a-half years, on the pretext of an outing. He reportedly travelled towards Nashik with the children before getting off a state transport bus near Ale Khind late at night. Investigators believe the accused then led the children into a nearby isolated forest region around midnight.
Son Found Alive After Escaping Forest Area
Police said the accused first targeted his son Aryan and allegedly attempted to strangle him. After the boy lost consciousness, Shinde reportedly assumed he had died and abandoned him inside the forest. Investigators further revealed that he then took his younger daughter Harshada deeper into the bushes, where she was allegedly strangled to death.
The following morning, Aryan regained consciousness and somehow managed to walk out of the forest area despite his traumatic condition. Local residents spotted the frightened child wandering alone and immediately informed village officials. Police Patil Gangadhar Chougule later brought the boy to Alephata Police Station after speaking with him.
Due to his young age and emotional trauma, Aryan could share only limited information with officers. However, police said the child informed them that his father had taken both children into the forest during the night and later disappeared with his sister.
Accused Allegedly Tried To Mislead Family Members
During the investigation, police discovered that the accused had returned to Moshi after the incident. Officials said he packed the children’s belongings into a bag and later attempted to mislead family members about their whereabouts. When questioned by relatives, he reportedly claimed that he had arranged accommodation for the children in Balajinagar area of Chakan.
Meanwhile, suspicion had already started growing within the family after the children went missing. Authorities confirmed that a missing complaint regarding both children had been registered earlier at Bhosari Police Station.
Police Trace And Arrest Suspect
A detailed search operation was launched by Alephata Police after Aryan was rescued. Officers also began tracing the family background and contacted the children’s grandparents in Moshi for further assistance. During interrogation, police said the accused eventually admitted to attacking both children.
Senior Police Inspector Jadhav, Assistant Inspector Amol Panhalkar, and Crime Branch Inspector Pramod Kshirsagar were part of the investigation team handling the case. Acting on technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs, officers located the accused near a paan stall in Bhosari before taking him into custody.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to establish all circumstances linked to the crime. The tragic incident has raised serious concerns regarding mental health support, family distress, and child safety in vulnerable domestic situations.
