Entertainment – Sumbul Touqeer Reflects on Sudden Television Show Closures
Entertainment – Actress Sumbul Touqeer Khan has opened up about the emotional challenges she faced whenever her television shows ended unexpectedly, saying the experience was initially very difficult for her to handle.

The actress, who became a household name after her lead role in the popular television drama “Imlie,” shared that daily soap actors often receive very little notice before a show is taken off air. Speaking during a recent interaction, Sumbul admitted that such situations can leave artists emotionally overwhelmed because of the deep attachment they develop with their projects.
Emotional Connection With Long-Running Shows
Sumbul explained that actors invest significant time, effort, and emotions into television projects, making sudden endings painful. Recalling her experience with “Imlie,” she revealed that she struggled emotionally when the show’s journey came to an end.
According to the actress, she cried frequently after learning that the show was wrapping up. She noted that unexpected closures are especially difficult because actors rarely anticipate such decisions while working continuously on a project.
The actress further mentioned that with time, she gradually learned an important lesson about the entertainment industry — no television show lasts forever. She said she has now accepted that every project eventually reaches its conclusion, no matter how successful it becomes.
Learning to Move Forward Professionally
Sumbul shared that earlier in her career, she found it extremely hard to detach herself emotionally from her work. However, experience has helped her develop a more balanced perspective toward the changing nature of the television industry.
She emphasized that the real value of a project lies not only in its success but also in the experiences and relationships built during the journey. Reflecting on her recent work, the actress said one of the most meaningful outcomes of “Itti Si Khushi” was the strong friendships she formed while working on the show.
Her comments highlighted how actors often create lasting personal bonds with co-stars and crew members during long shooting schedules, making the end of a show both emotional and memorable.
Journey From Child Artist to Television Star
Sumbul Touqeer Khan has steadily established herself as a recognized face in the Indian television industry. She started her acting career as a child artist and appeared in several notable television productions over the years.
Some of her early appearances included shows such as “Jodha Akbar,” “Waaris,” and “Chandragupta Maurya.” Through these projects, she gradually gained industry experience before transitioning into lead roles.
Apart from fiction shows, Sumbul has also participated in reality and entertainment programs. Her popularity witnessed a major rise after her appearance in “Bigg Boss 16,” where audiences got to see her personality beyond scripted performances.
‘Imlie’ Became a Turning Point
