HealthTech – Kapil Dev Launches Advanced Imaging Centre in New Delhi

HealthTech –   The expansion of diagnostic imaging facilities in New Delhi has received a significant boost with the inauguration of a new Department of Digital PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine at Mahajan Imaging & Labs’ Pusa Road centre. The facility was officially opened on Sunday by former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev, marking an important step in strengthening access to modern medical imaging technologies in the capital.

Integrated Imaging Services Under One Roof

The newly launched department brings together multiple advanced imaging technologies, including digital PET-CT, gamma camera systems, and nuclear medicine, within a single facility. This integrated approach is designed to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning for a range of complex health conditions such as cancer, neurological disorders, and heart diseases.

By combining these services, the centre aims to improve precision in diagnostics while reducing the need for patients to visit multiple locations. The facility also enhances the ability of clinicians to detect diseases at earlier stages, which is critical for better treatment outcomes.

Expanded Capabilities in Diagnostics and Care

With the addition of the new department, the Pusa Road centre now offers a broad spectrum of diagnostic services. These include high-end technologies such as 3T MRI, 128-slice cardiac CT scans, ultrasound, mammography, X-ray, and cone beam CT (CBCT). The inclusion of nuclear medicine and therapy support further strengthens the centre’s role in managing complex medical conditions across oncology, cardiology, neurology, and nephrology.

Healthcare professionals believe that having such comprehensive services in one location can significantly improve patient convenience and streamline clinical workflows. It also allows for a more coordinated approach to diagnosis and treatment planning.

Advanced PET-CT Technology Enhances Accuracy

One of the key highlights of the facility is its next-generation digital PET-CT system. This technology combines metabolic and anatomical imaging in a single scan, enabling doctors to identify even small abnormalities with greater clarity.

The system is designed to reduce radiation exposure by up to 60 percent compared to conventional methods. Additionally, it shortens scanning time, making the process more comfortable for patients while improving overall efficiency in diagnostic procedures.

The gamma camera technology complements this system by offering detailed functional imaging, which plays a crucial role in both diagnosis and therapy support. Together, these technologies provide a comprehensive view of a patient’s condition, helping doctors make informed decisions.

Focus on Early Detection and Patient Awareness

Speaking at the inauguration, Kapil Dev highlighted the importance of timely medical testing and awareness. He pointed out that many individuals delay diagnostic tests due to fear or hesitation, which can lead to complications if diseases are detected late.

He emphasized that early diagnosis can significantly improve treatment outcomes and encouraged people to take a proactive approach to their health. Recognizing symptoms early and seeking timely medical advice can often make a crucial difference in managing serious illnesses effectively.

Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

The launch of this advanced imaging department reflects a broader trend of investment in healthcare infrastructure, particularly in diagnostic technologies. As the demand for accurate and early detection grows, facilities like this play a vital role in supporting both patients and healthcare providers.

By integrating cutting-edge imaging tools with specialised medical services, the centre aims to contribute to improved healthcare delivery in the region. It also underscores the importance of innovation in addressing the growing burden of chronic and life-threatening diseases.

The addition of such facilities is expected to benefit not only residents of New Delhi but also patients from neighbouring regions who seek advanced diagnostic services.
