Extensive Security at Key Counting Locations
At Loyola College, one of the principal counting venues, security arrangements were particularly stringent. A three-tier system was enforced, with a significant police presence stationed at all access points. Barricades were placed outside the campus, and vehicles entering the premises underwent detailed inspections. The atmosphere reflected the seriousness with which authorities approached the vote-counting process.
Similar precautions were implemented at other prominent centres, including Queen Mary’s College and Anna University. These locations had been used to store Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) after polling concluded, and security remained tight to safeguard the integrity of the stored equipment.

The counting of votes commenced at 8 a.m., starting with postal ballots. Half an hour later, officials moved on to counting votes recorded in EVMs. The entire procedure is being carried out under strict supervision, with election officers, appointed observers, and security personnel overseeing each stage to prevent any discrepancies.
The Election Commission of India had earlier emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the counting process adheres to the highest standards of transparency and efficiency.
