ElectionResults – Vote Counting Begins Across Five States Amid Tight Security
ElectionResults – Counting of votes for the recently concluded assembly elections commenced on Monday morning across multiple regions, marking a crucial phase in determining the political future of several key states and one Union Territory.

Counting Process Begins with Postal Ballots
The counting exercise is being conducted in 823 constituencies spanning West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry. As per established procedure, officials began with the tallying of postal ballots before moving on to Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at around 8:30 am. Results are being released in stages, with round-wise updates made available through the Election Commission’s digital platforms, ensuring transparency and real-time tracking for the public and political stakeholders.
Heightened Security Measures at Counting Centres
Authorities have enforced strict security arrangements at all counting venues to ensure a smooth and disturbance-free process. Multi-layered security has been deployed, with personnel stationed at entry points and surrounding areas. In Tamil Nadu, for instance, several counting centres witnessed heavy security presence from early morning, including barricaded access points and thorough checks of vehicles entering the premises.
Institutions such as Loyola College, Queen Mary’s College, and Anna University have been designated as counting hubs in Chennai, where millions of votes are being processed. Officials confirmed that every step is being closely monitored to maintain integrity and order.
Early Morning Activity Across Key States
As counting preparations got underway, strong rooms storing EVMs were opened in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry under strict supervision. In West Bengal’s Malda district, security patrols involving armoured vehicles were conducted to maintain law and order. The atmosphere remained tense yet controlled as political parties awaited early trends.
Dispute Between Party Agents at Counting Centres
Amid the counting process, a disagreement emerged between representatives of two major political parties at a counting centre in West Bengal. Polling agents from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged unequal treatment, claiming they were not permitted to carry basic items such as files and pens inside the premises, while agents from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were reportedly allowed to do so.
A TMC representative expressed concern over what they described as inconsistent rules, stating that uniform guidelines should apply to all parties involved in the process.
In response, BJP representatives countered the allegations, asserting that TMC agents were denied entry due to the absence of valid identification cards. They maintained that their own agents were following protocol and accused the opposing side of creating unnecessary disruption.
Monitoring and Transparency Through Digital Platforms
The Election Commission has emphasized transparency by providing continuous updates through its official portal and the ECINET platform. This allows candidates, party workers, and citizens to follow developments closely as counting progresses through multiple rounds.
Officials have reiterated that strict adherence to rules and procedures is being maintained to ensure the credibility of the electoral process. Observers and security teams remain on high alert to handle any disputes or irregularities swiftly.
Anticipation Builds as Trends Emerge
With counting underway, early trends are expected to offer insights into the political direction of the regions involved. These elections are being closely watched due to their significance in shaping regional governance and influencing broader national political dynamics.
As the day progresses, clearer pictures are likely to emerge from each constituency, determining which parties will secure mandates and form governments in their respective states
