Police Urge Calm Amid Tension

Following the incident, district police officials moved quickly to secure the area and begin an investigation. Chittoor Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi visited the crime scene and appealed to the public to remain calm. He warned against spreading unverified information or making statements that could trigger unrest or disturb communal harmony. Authorities emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to incite tension.

Possible Motive Under Examination

Initial reactions from local residents suggest that the killing may be linked to the journalist’s recent reporting activities. Jagan Mohan Reddy had reportedly been involved in exposing illegal red sandalwood smuggling in the region. Some residents believe the attack could be an act of retaliation connected to these reports.

There are also indications that an individual previously arrested in connection with such smuggling activities had recently been released, adding to suspicions of revenge. In addition, some locals pointed to earlier communal tensions and the possible involvement of anti-social elements, prompting investigators to explore multiple angles.

Investigation Gains Momentum

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway. Teams are currently gathering evidence from the scene, reviewing CCTV footage, and verifying statements from witnesses and local residents.

SP Dudi stated that the investigation is being carried out with urgency and that efforts are focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible at the earliest. He directed Palamaneru DSP Prabhakar along with other officers to intensify the search operations.

Special Teams Formed to Track Suspects

To ensure swift progress, special police teams have been formed. These units are tasked with collecting intelligence, tracking possible suspects, and coordinating with other departments if required. Officials say that every lead is being examined carefully to establish the exact motive and sequence of events.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and maintaining law and order in the area.

Strong Reaction from Media Community

The killing has drawn sharp condemnation from journalist associations across Andhra Pradesh. Several groups described the incident as a serious attack on press freedom and demanded immediate action against those responsible.

Leaders from the Andhra Pradesh Broadcasters and Journalists Federation, including Valigalam Gopi, Gandhi, Jayaraj, D Kiran, and Prasad Reddy, expressed deep concern over the incident. They called for a thorough investigation and urged the authorities to ensure strict punishment for the culprits.

Call for Safety Measures

The incident has also reignited discussions around the safety of journalists, especially those reporting on sensitive issues such as illegal activities and organized crime. Media representatives have urged the government to implement stronger protection measures to safeguard reporters working in high-risk environments.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain under pressure to deliver swift justice and reassure the public that such incidents will not be tolerated
