A multicultural foundation shapes creative vision

Dimple Mehta was born in London to parents Dipti and Vijay Shah and grew up alongside her three siblings. Her early years were shaped by life across London, Belgium, and India, giving her exposure to diverse cultures and artistic traditions. This global experience became central to her design philosophy.

By the time she was 16, Mehta had already begun designing garments, showing a keen interest in fabrics, styling, and garment construction. What started as curiosity soon evolved into a clear career path, rooted in both technical understanding and cultural storytelling.

Designing garments that tell personal stories

Today, her label—Dimple Mehta—focuses on luxury couture, particularly bridal wear and occasion outfits. What sets her work apart is the emphasis on narrative. Each piece is designed not just as attire, but as a reflection of personal journeys.

Mehta works closely with her clients, translating their experiences and memories into design elements such as embroidery patterns, motifs, and embellishments. Her creations often blend traditional Indian craftsmanship with modern silhouettes, resulting in garments that feel both timeless and contemporary.

This approach has helped her stand out in a competitive market, positioning her brand as one that values emotional connection as much as visual appeal.

Mentoring future pageant leaders

Beyond fashion design, Mehta has gained recognition for her role in mentoring pageant contestants. Since 2018, she has been actively involved in preparing participants for national and international competitions, including Miss Universe India.

Her mentorship goes beyond styling. She focuses on building confidence, refining stage presence, and guiding contestants in communication and etiquette. Her holistic approach ensures that participants are prepared both outwardly and internally.

Importantly, Mehta has also supported aspiring contestants from financially limited backgrounds. By offering sponsorship and guidance, she has helped several young women access opportunities they might not have otherwise had. Many of her mentees have gone on to achieve notable success in pageants.

Expanding creativity across platforms

Mehta’s creative work extends into visual media, including music videos, short films, and event styling. Her ability to merge fashion with storytelling has made her a sought-after collaborator in these spaces.

One of her most recognized moments came during the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 and 2019. There, she presented a collection of couture gowns inspired by the lives of actress Sridevi and designer Karl Lagerfeld. The designs incorporated a mix of techniques such as hand painting, detailed embroidery, and intricate embellishments, earning appreciation for both craftsmanship and emotional depth.

Driving social impact through fashion initiatives

Alongside her professional achievements, Mehta has remained committed to social causes. She founded “Fashion for a Cause,” an initiative held in Antwerp, Belgium, which combines a fashion show, gala, and charity auction.

The event has raised funds for the Ashwini Kumar Antwerp Medical Center in Susupada, India. Operated by the Bhakti Vedanta organization, the center provides essential healthcare services to underserved communities, including emergency care for accident victims.

As a trustee, Mehta has also contributed to efforts such as distributing Jaipur Foot prosthetics and wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities, expanding the reach of the organization’s support.

Balancing creativity, career, and family

Despite a demanding professional life, Mehta maintains a strong focus on her personal responsibilities. She is married to Rajiv Mehta and is a mother of three children. Her ability to balance multiple roles reflects her disciplined approach and commitment to both family and career.

Through her work, Mehta continues to demonstrate that fashion can serve as more than an aesthetic pursuit. Whether designing couture, mentoring young talent, or supporting charitable initiatives, she has built a career that connects creativity with meaningful impact.
