Accident – A tragic road accident in Delhi’s Alipur locality has claimed the life of a two-year-old girl after a collision between two vehicles led to her being thrown out of a moving car.
A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon in the Alipur area of Delhi, where a young child lost her life following a severe road crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a hatchback. According to police officials, the accident occurred at around 2 pm when a Maruti Celerio carrying six people was on its way from Delhi to Sonipat. The complaint was filed by a 47-year-old man, Ravinder, who was also travelling in the same vehicle.
Collision at Traffic Signal Turns Fatal
Police said the incident took place near the Khampur red light in Bakoli village. As the traffic signal turned green and the Celerio began moving forward, a Toyota Fortuner allegedly struck the car from behind at high speed. Investigators believe that overspeeding may have played a key role in the crash.
The impact of the collision was strong enough to destabilize the smaller vehicle, causing it to lose control. Officers noted that such rear-end collisions at intersections often lead to serious consequences, particularly when vehicles accelerate suddenly after a signal change.
Child Thrown Out During Impact
At the time of the accident, the passengers were returning from Rani Khera. The two-year-old girl was seated on a woman’s lap in the front passenger seat. Police revealed that the car’s air conditioning system was not functioning, and the window was open, which contributed to the circumstances that followed.
When the Fortuner hit the Celerio, the force caused the vehicle to spin and crash into a road divider. During this sudden movement, the child slipped from the woman’s lap and was thrown out of the car through the open window. The sequence of events highlights the dangers of not using proper child restraints or safety measures inside vehicles.
Emergency Response and Medical Outcome
Following the accident, the injured were quickly rushed to a nearby medical facility. The child was taken to SRHC Hospital in Narela, where doctors declared her brought dead upon arrival.
Ravinder and a 28-year-old woman also suffered injuries in the incident. They received medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. Authorities stated that timely medical attention was provided, but the severity of the child’s injuries left no chance of survival.
Driver Flees, Investigation Underway
In a concerning development, the driver of the Toyota Fortuner fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have since seized both vehicles involved in the crash and registered a case under relevant sections of law.
