ElectionCampaign – Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to campaign extensively in West Bengal on Saturday, addressing a series of public gatherings as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. His visit is aimed at strengthening the party’s presence in key constituencies and connecting directly with voters across districts.

Campaign Begins in Bankura District
According to the official itinerary, Shah will start his day with a public meeting in the Onda Assembly constituency. The rally is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Ramsagar Anchal Ground in Chhatna, located in Bankura district. Local party leaders and supporters are expected to gather in large numbers for the event.
Following this, he will move to another location within Bankura district to address a second rally. This event will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Chhatna Assembly constituency at Ethani Jhantipahari. Both meetings are considered important as the party aims to consolidate its support in the region.
Focus Shifts to Purulia Later in the Day
In the afternoon, Shah is scheduled to travel to Purulia district, where he will address his third rally of the day. The event will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Kushaldih Cricket Ground in the Baghmundi Assembly constituency. Party workers from surrounding areas are expected to attend, making it a significant gathering in the district.
These rallies are part of a broader campaign strategy by the BJP, with senior leaders actively visiting various parts of the state to engage with the electorate ahead of polling.
Manifesto Highlights Announced Earlier
A day before the scheduled rallies, Shah released the party’s election manifesto, titled ‘Sankalp Patra’, outlining key promises for the state. The document focuses on governance reforms, financial support measures, and policy changes that the party intends to implement if it forms the government.
One of the major commitments includes implementing the 7th Pay Commission within 45 days of coming to power. The party has also promised to ensure that government employees receive dearness allowance in line with central standards.
Key Policy Promises and Welfare Measures
The manifesto also mentions the introduction of the Uniform Civil Code within six months of forming the government. Additionally, the BJP has pledged a strict approach toward issues such as illegal infiltration, stating that it would adopt a zero-tolerance policy.
In terms of welfare initiatives, the party has proposed direct financial assistance of ₹3,000 to women, which would be credited to their bank accounts. It has also announced a plan to provide 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs across the state, including positions within the police force.
Political Messaging Ahead of Elections
While unveiling the manifesto, Shah stated that many people in the state are looking for change and expressed confidence in the party’s growing role as a key opposition force in West Bengal over the past decade. He emphasized that the BJP aims to present itself as a viable alternative in the upcoming elections.
With multiple rallies planned and policy promises outlined, the party’s campaign is entering a crucial phase as it seeks to expand its voter base and strengthen its position across various constituencies in the state.
