Accident – A festive return journey ended in tragedy when a devastating road accident claimed six lives, including a young child, on a national highway in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district late Thursday night.

The fatal incident occurred on a national highway roughly 150 kilometres south of Raipur. According to preliminary information from local authorities, two cars moving at considerable speed collided head-on during the late hours between Thursday and Friday. The crash proved catastrophic, killing six individuals instantly and leaving three others seriously injured.
Among those who lost their lives were a married couple and their seven-year-old son, making the tragedy particularly devastating for their family and community.

Eyewitness accounts describe the collision as extremely violent. Both vehicles were reportedly traveling fast before they struck each other directly. The force of the impact crushed the cars beyond recognition, trapping passengers inside the wreckage.

District police chief Nikhil Rakhecha stated that the victims belonged to Udkuda village in the Charama block. They had been returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in Chivranj when the accident took place.
The loss has deeply affected the village, particularly because an entire family was among those killed. Residents described the atmosphere in Udkuda as one of shock and grief following the news.
