Elections – PM Modi Highlights Strong Support During Asansol Campaign Push
Elections – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed confidence that voters in West Bengal are increasingly aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s development-focused agenda. His remarks came a day after a high-profile roadshow in Asansol, where party supporters turned out in large numbers ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Enthusiastic Response During Asansol Roadshow
Sharing his observations on social media, the Prime Minister pointed to the energy and participation seen during the event. According to him, the crowd’s response reflected growing public backing for the BJP’s vision in the state. He suggested that this enthusiasm signals a shift in political preferences, with people seeking a development-oriented approach.
The roadshow, held on Thursday, was part of the BJP’s intensified campaign efforts in the region. Supporters lined the streets, waving party flags and raising slogans, creating a charged atmosphere as the election dates draw closer.
Rally Focuses on Security and Governance
During a public address in Asansol earlier, the Prime Minister described April 23, one of the polling dates, as a decisive moment for West Bengal’s future. He emphasized the need for stability, security, and economic progress, positioning these as central themes of the BJP’s campaign.
In his speech, he also criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging that certain communities were being targeted and that an environment of fear was being created. He argued that citizens want assurance regarding their safety, livelihoods, and the prospects of future generations.
The Prime Minister further stated that his government has ensured the security of India’s western borders and pledged similar attention to the eastern region if voted into power in the state.
Call for Political Change in the State
Continuing his critique of the current administration, he claimed that public dissatisfaction with the Trinamool Congress has reached a tipping point. According to him, the electorate is now ready for a change in governance, which he believes the BJP can provide.
He also reiterated the party’s promise of establishing a “double-engine government,” referring to aligned leadership at both the state and central levels. Such a system, he said, would accelerate development and bring new opportunities to West Bengal after the election results are announced.
Amit Shah to Unveil BJP Manifesto
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to release the BJP’s election manifesto, titled Sankalp Patra, in Kolkata. This document is expected to outline the party’s commitments and policy priorities for the state.
In a message shared online, Shah stated that the people of West Bengal are looking for an alternative to the current leadership. He described the manifesto as a roadmap aimed at addressing governance concerns and improving overall conditions in the state.
Alongside the manifesto launch, Shah has planned a series of public engagements, including a rally in Debra, West Medinipur, and a roadshow in Kharagpur. These events are part of the party’s broader outreach strategy to connect directly with voters across different regions.
Election Schedule and Key Dates
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases, scheduled for April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes is set to take place on May 4. With 294 seats in the Assembly, the contest is expected to be closely watched, as major political parties intensify their campaigns in the final weeks.
As the election approaches, both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress are focusing on mobilizing support and presenting their visions for the state’s future. The coming days are likely to see increased political activity, with rallies, roadshows, and policy announcements shaping the electoral narrative.
