Elections – Udhayanidhi Stalin Projects MK Stalin as National Leader
Elections – Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has described Chief Minister MK Stalin as a leader whose influence now extends well beyond the state, saying that political figures across India look to him for direction in the current national climate.

Speaking on Monday, Udhayanidhi, who also serves as the Youth Wing Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), said his father’s leadership has gained recognition at the national level. According to him, several opposition leaders believe that any democratic campaign challenging the Bharatiya Janata Party would benefit from MK Stalin’s guidance.
Remarks Amid Seat-Sharing Talks
The comments come at a time when discussions are underway between the DMK and the Indian National Congress regarding seat-sharing arrangements ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Political observers see the negotiations as a crucial step in shaping the opposition alliance’s strategy in the state.
Udhayanidhi’s statement is being viewed as an attempt to reinforce MK Stalin’s standing within the broader opposition framework. By highlighting his father’s perceived role beyond Tamil Nadu, the Deputy Chief Minister signaled confidence in the DMK’s influence in national politics.
Focus on Electoral Roll Revision
Over the weekend, MK Stalin addressed party functionaries at a training conference held at Kalaignar Thidal in Madurai. The meeting brought together members involved in booth-level responsibilities, including BLA-2 and Booth Level Committee representatives from the southern zone.
During his speech, the Chief Minister spoke about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He said the DMK had taken extensive steps to ensure that eligible voters in Tamil Nadu were not removed from the rolls during the revision process. Referring to reports of deletions in other parts of the country, he maintained that the party remained vigilant in protecting voters’ rights within the state.
Confidence Ahead of Assembly Polls
MK Stalin also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the forthcoming Assembly elections. Pointing to the alliance’s performance in the 2019 and 2024 General Elections in Tamil Nadu, he said the consistent victories demonstrated public trust in the DMK-led coalition.
He noted that since returning to power, the state government has introduced several welfare initiatives and development schemes aimed at improving public services and social support systems. According to him, these measures have strengthened the party’s position among voters.
The Chief Minister emphasized the DMK’s ideological roots, referencing leaders such as Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, C.N. Annadurai, and M. Karunanidhi. He described the party as one built by and for the people, suggesting that its history and principles continue to resonate with the electorate.
Call to Strengthen Grassroots Outreach
In his address, MK Stalin urged booth-level agents and committee members to intensify voter engagement efforts in the run-up to the polls. He stressed the importance of direct communication with households, careful monitoring of electoral lists, and coordinated campaign activities at the local level.
Party insiders indicate that strengthening booth-level organization is a central component of the DMK’s election strategy. With Assembly elections approaching, the leadership appears focused on consolidating support and ensuring high voter participation.
As political negotiations continue and campaign preparations gather pace, the coming months are expected to shape the trajectory of Tamil Nadu’s electoral landscape. The DMK leadership’s public messaging suggests a combination of confidence and caution as it prepares for the next contest.
