Security – Armed Intruder Fatally Shot at Mar-a-Lago Estate
Security – A 21-year-old man from North Carolina was shot and killed by law enforcement officers after allegedly entering a restricted area at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a joint investigation led by federal and local agencies.
Early Morning Breach at Estate Gate
According to officials, the confrontation unfolded around 1:30 a.m. near the north entrance of the Palm Beach resort. Investigators said the man, identified as Austin Tucker Martin of Cameron, North Carolina, gained unauthorized access through the gate as another vehicle was leaving the premises.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told reporters that deputies and U.S. Secret Service agents encountered Martin inside the secured perimeter. He was reportedly carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel container at the time.
Law enforcement officers instructed him to drop both items. Authorities said Martin placed the gas can on the ground but then lifted the shotgun into what officers described as a firing position.
Faced with what they believed to be an imminent threat, a sheriff’s deputy and two Secret Service agents discharged their weapons. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or Secret Service personnel were injured during the encounter.
Federal Authorities Take Lead in Investigation
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is heading the inquiry into the shooting, with support from local law enforcement agencies. Brett Skiles, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Miami field office, said investigators are carefully processing the scene and gathering physical evidence.
Officials have asked residents living near the Mar-a-Lago estate to review exterior security camera footage for any unusual activity that may be relevant to the case.
The shooting reportedly occurred just inside the inner security perimeter close to the north gate. Former President Donald Trump was not present at the property when the incident took place.
Background of the Suspect
Media reports indicate that a box for the shotgun was later found inside Martin’s vehicle. It was also reported that his family had notified authorities that he was missing a day before the incident.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive, and officials emphasized that the inquiry remains ongoing. Authorities have not indicated whether Martin had any prior criminal record or known connection to the property.
Official Statements and Security Context
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on social media that Secret Service agents responded swiftly to what she described as an armed intruder at Trump’s residence. She praised the officers’ actions, saying they acted decisively in confronting the threat.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the bureau is committing all necessary resources to ensure a thorough investigation. He stressed that federal authorities are working closely with local partners to determine the full sequence of events.
The episode comes amid heightened security concerns surrounding Trump. During the 2024 presidential campaign, he survived two separate assassination attempts. In one instance, a gunman fired shots during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, injuring Trump’s ear. Months later, another armed individual was arrested near his West Palm Beach golf club.
While officials have not linked the latest incident to previous threats, the event underscores the continued security challenges faced by high-profile political figures. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict protective measures at Trump’s Florida estate and other associated properties.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have indicated that additional details will be released as they become available.
