Aviation – Supriya Sule Seeks Security for Rohit Pawar After Crash Questions
Aviation – The political atmosphere in Maharashtra has grown increasingly tense after Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule urged the state government to provide security cover to party MLA Rohit Pawar. Her appeal comes in the aftermath of the January 28 air crash in Baramati that claimed the life of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others.

Growing Concern After Baramati Air Crash
The fatal crash of a private aircraft in Baramati, Pune district, sent shockwaves across the state. The incident, which led to the death of senior leader Ajit Pawar, triggered widespread grief and prompted intense discussion both offline and across social media platforms. In her public statement shared on X, Sule described the prevailing mood in Maharashtra as one of sorrow mixed with uncertainty, as many citizens continue to raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
She noted that doubts and concerns expressed by members of the public deserve clear and timely clarification from authorities overseeing the investigation.
Rohit Pawar’s Press Conferences Draw Attention
Rohit Pawar, a two-time legislator and nephew of the late Ajit Pawar, has recently addressed the media twice, presenting what he described as researched observations related to the crash. According to Sule, he has articulated public concerns in a measured and fact-based manner, reflecting the unease felt by many residents.
During his press interactions, Rohit Pawar suggested that certain aspects of the incident warrant deeper scrutiny. He also stated that all angles, including the possibility of sabotage, should be examined thoroughly as part of the ongoing investigation.
His remarks have amplified political debate in the state, particularly regarding the transparency of the probe and the role of various agencies involved.
Call for Transparency and Timely Answers
Sule emphasized that transparency is essential in maintaining public trust. She cautioned that any delay in presenting verified findings could further heighten anxiety among citizens. According to her, a clear and comprehensive disclosure of facts would help address speculation and restore confidence.
She underlined that seeking accountability and asking questions of those in authority is a constitutional right. In her view, Rohit Pawar’s statements represent concerns already circulating among the public, and engaging with those questions openly would strengthen democratic processes.
Demand for Security Protection
Against this backdrop, Sule formally requested that the Maharashtra government ensure adequate security for Rohit Pawar. She argued that as an elected representative voicing sensitive concerns, his safety should be treated as a priority.
“It is the responsibility of the state to guarantee his protection,” she said, adding that public representatives must be able to speak without fear while participating in democratic discourse.
The appeal places additional pressure on the state administration, which is already navigating the political and administrative consequences of the crash.
Questions Over Civil Aviation Oversight
In his recent statements, Rohit Pawar also called for Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu to step aside until the completion of the investigation. He argued that such a step would ensure impartiality and strengthen public confidence in the inquiry process.
Additionally, he raised concerns about the aviation company linked to the Learjet involved in the crash, suggesting that the firm should be examined thoroughly as part of the probe. These remarks have added a national dimension to what began as a state-level tragedy.
As investigative agencies continue their work, the political narrative surrounding the Baramati air crash remains active. While authorities have yet to release final findings, calls for transparency and accountability continue to shape public discourse across Maharashtra.
