Accident – Four Dead After Truck Overturns on Ambala Highway
Accident – Four people lost their lives on Monday after a truck overturned and crushed two motorcycles on a national highway near Ambala, according to local police officials.

Fog Suspected in Early Investigation
Preliminary findings indicate that the truck was traveling from Delhi toward Chandigarh when the incident occurred. Authorities believe poor visibility caused by dense fog may have contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The truck reportedly overturned suddenly, trapping the victims beneath it.
Investigators have not yet confirmed the exact sequence of events, and further examination is underway to determine the precise cause of the crash.
Crash Site Near Tangri Bridge
The accident took place near the Tangri Bridge along the national highway in Shahpur, approximately two kilometers east of Ambala city. The overturned truck blocked a significant portion of the roadway, bringing traffic to a standstill shortly after the collision.
Eyewitnesses in the area alerted emergency services, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and rescue teams.
Rescue Efforts and Recovery Operation
Police officers reached the scene soon after receiving information about the accident. A crane was deployed to lift the heavy vehicle and clear the wreckage from the road.
During the recovery operation, two victims were found trapped beneath the truck. Their bodies had been crushed under the vehicle’s weight. Two other victims were discovered lying near the side of the overturned truck, officials confirmed. All four individuals were declared dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending notification of their families.
Traffic Disruption on Delhi-Ambala Stretch
The accident caused a major traffic jam along the Delhi-Ambala section of the highway. Long queues of vehicles formed as emergency personnel worked to clear the damaged truck and debris from the roadway.
Police teams diverted vehicles to alternate routes in an effort to reduce congestion and restore normal movement. It took several hours before traffic conditions began returning to normal.
Ongoing Probe Into the Incident
Officials stated that a detailed investigation is underway to determine whether mechanical failure, driver error, or environmental conditions were responsible for the fatal crash. Weather conditions in the region have been marked by low visibility in recent days, increasing risks for motorists traveling during early morning and late evening hours.
Road safety authorities have repeatedly urged drivers to exercise caution during foggy conditions, advising reduced speed and greater following distance to prevent accidents.
The tragic incident once again highlights the dangers posed by heavy vehicles traveling on busy national highways, particularly during adverse weather conditions. Police have assured that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined.
