Fatehpur – Woman Held After Husband Alleges Assault and Electric Shocks

Fatehpur – A woman has been taken into custody in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district after her husband alleged that she assaulted him, tied him to a cot and gave him electric shocks. The incident was reported from Parasdevpur village in the Aung police station area, police said.

Allegations emerge after man returns home from work

The injured man has been identified as Sanjeev Tiwari, who works as a confectioner. According to relatives, he returned home from work on Monday night when an argument reportedly broke out inside the house.

Family members alleged that his wife, Ranno Devi, struck him on the head with a stick. They further claimed that she tied him to a cot and continued beating him before using a live electric wire to give him shocks.

Relatives rush in after hearing disturbance

The alleged assault came to light after family members heard noise from inside the house and rushed to the room. They reportedly found Tiwari tied to the cot, with an electric wire wrapped around his body.

Relatives removed the wire and took him to a nearby hospital for emergency care. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to the district hospital. He was later shifted to Kanpur for specialised medical treatment due to the seriousness of his injuries.

Police record victim’s statement during treatment

Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik said police received information through the emergency helpline 112 that a man had allegedly been confined and assaulted by his wife in Parasdevpur village.

A police team reached the location soon after receiving the alert and arranged treatment for Tiwari. Officers also recorded his statement while he was undergoing medical care, the police officer said.

Case registered after complaint by victim’s brother

After Tiwari’s condition showed improvement, his brother submitted a written complaint against Ranno Devi. Police subsequently registered a case and detained the accused woman for further legal action.

Investigators said they are examining the complaint, medical reports and statements from family members. Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances that led to the alleged incident.

Incident follows another case reported in Fatehpur

The case has drawn attention because it comes shortly after another alleged domestic violence incident in Fatehpur district. On June 26, a woman was accused of pouring petrol on her husband and setting him on fire in Aswar Tarapur village under the Malwan police station area.

The man in that case later died from burn injuries, according to police. Officials said both matters are being handled separately and investigations are continuing under the relevant legal provisions.

Police have appealed to residents to report domestic violence and other serious disputes without delay so that timely intervention can be made. Authorities said action in the Parasdevpur case will depend on the findings of the investigation and evidence collected during the enquiry.
