Iran : begs the UN Security Council to “keep protesting” after Trump makes the request
Iran : According to an official letter sent by Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN, Iran has officially appealed to the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, accusing the US of inciting unrest, meddling in Iran’s domestic affairs, and threatening military action.

The letter was sent by Iran’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani, who voiced what he called serious worry about recent comments made by the US President regarding rallies within Iran. According to Tehran, the remarks incited discontent and implied outside backing for efforts to take over state institutions, which Iranian authorities contend constitute a clear danger to the nation’s security and sovereignty.
Iran contends that the U.S. remarks go against fundamental rules of international law, such as the UN Charter’s ban on the threat or use of force and on meddling in a sovereign state’s internal affairs. According to the letter, such speech has major repercussions for regional and global peace and security as it fuels political instability and may incite violence.
The Iranian delegation also places the comments in the context of what it describes as a wider trend of increasing pressure from Washington, claiming that there have been several threats of action in recent weeks. Tehran claims that identical concerns were noted in previous diplomatic correspondence delivered to the UN in late December 2025 and early January 2026. Iranian leaders contend that sanctions, economic pressure, and political agitation are all part of a long-standing plan to destabilize the nation.
Iran also connects the most recent events to the aftermath of a short-lived but fierce fight in June 2025, which it describes as an act of aggression, in its speech. According to the letter, further attempts to destabilize Iran domestically have followed the failure of that encounter, including communications meant to incite conflict between youth and the government.
The Islamic Republic has called on the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to denounce threats of military action and encouragement to violence. Additionally, it urged all UN members to refrain from saying or doing anything that may jeopardize Iran’s political independence, territorial integrity, or sovereignty.
The letter also cautions that any act of armed aggression will have dire repercussions and warns against what Iran characterizes as possible U.S. miscalculations. Iran also holds Israel and the United States accountable for damage, including civilian lives, that it claims has been caused by destabilizing actions.
On Tuesday (local time), US President Donald Trump urged Iranian demonstrators to keep up their protests while assuring them that help will come shortly. However, he did not provide any other information. Trump tweeted, “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!” on Truth Social. Keep the names of the abusers and murderers. It will cost them dearly. Until the needless death of demonstrators ENDS, I have canceled all talks with Iranian officials. HELP IS ON THE WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Journalist and activist Masih Alinejad expressed gratitude to the US President for his remarks calling on him to attack the dictatorship of the Islamic Republic.Donald Trump, I appreciate you listening to the Iranian people. It is moral clarity, not escalation, to terminate talks with a government that kills its own people. Iranians are urging America to take the initiative. Bring the G7 together and inspire Europe to take action—not just words, but tangible steps. Take aim at the terrorists in the Islamic Republic who are murdering Iranians. Degrade diplomatic relations. Closing embassies. Eliminate validity. In order to assist the Iranian people win this battle, international leaders must convene an urgent summit. This has nothing to do with politics. It is about picking the right side of history and putting an end to mass slaughter. “America, the region, and the world will be strengthened by a free Iran,” she wrote on X.
The regime’s assault on protesters has probably been considerably more fatal than activists outside the nation have claimed, according to CBS News. According to CBS, which cited sources, it has learned that at least 12,000 people have died, potentially as many as 20,000.
