BJP: Congress and Samajwadi Party are accused by the of copying Pakistan in the Delhi encroachment issue

BJP: Pradeep Bhandari, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party, has harshly criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), claiming that both parties are adopting Pakistan’s position about the recent court-ordered removal of unlawful encroachments close to the Syed Faiz Elahi Mosque in Delhi.

He posted a video of Pakistan’s ambassador and foreign affairs spokesman, Tahir Andrabi, discussing Pakistan’s position on encroachments close to the building in Delhi.

Bhandari said in a strongly worded statement posted on social media that the opposition parties are once again supporting Pakistan’s narrative and putting vote-bank politics ahead of respect for India’s legal system and rule of law.

The Delhi High Court’s order to demolish unlawful constructions around the mosque is the source of the issue; this decision has provoked political discussion and demonstrations in several areas.

Congress and SP officials have criticized the decision, citing worries about communal emotions, while the BJP has supported the destruction as a legal move ordered by the court.

The BJP has used statements from Pakistan’s foreign ministry denouncing the destruction to claim that the opposition is “speaking in the same voice” as India’s enemy.

Bhandari argued that by opposing security and legal measures, Congress and SP continuously undermine national interests.

On his personal X account, he said, “Congress and SP do not stand with India’s law — they keep echoing Pakistan for vote bank politics.” He went on to say that such stances undermine India’s democratic institutions and give the country’s adversaries more confidence from outside forces.

He presented the matter as a part of a broader trend in which opposition parties are accused of supporting infiltrators, contesting enforcement operations against corruption or unlawful conduct, and casting doubt on border security procedures.

With the governing party presenting itself as the guardian of national sovereignty and the rule of law and the opposition as caving in to narrow political interests, the BJP spokesperson’s comments are certain to escalate the political conflict ahead of the next elections.

In the larger story of nationalism vs appeasement politics, the demolition issue has therefore turned into a flashpoint. In his closing remarks, Bhandari said that the Indian public will expose what he called “dangerous collusion” between opposition parties and Pakistani propaganda. He emphasized that no political party should try to subvert the rule of law in order to win votes, and that the court’s rulings must be obeyed.
