Rahul Gandhi : draws attention to problems that veterans confront at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense

Rahul Gandhi: At the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence on Monday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, brought up a number of issues pertaining to ex-servicemen, including hiring shortages, challenges in receiving medical care, and inadequate funding for health care, according to the sources.

Rahul Gandhi also brought up the problem of ex-servicemen having trouble getting care in hospitals, especially private ones. He said that when former military members are sent to private hospitals, they have major challenges with admittance and care since many facilities deny care, claiming that the government still owes them money.

Sources claim that Rahul Gandhi further questioned the inadequate funding provided to veterans for illnesses like cancer and called for an increase.

According to him, ex-servicemen only get Rs 75,000 for kidney-related illnesses and cancer therapy. He remarked that this help should be expanded and questioned how cancer or renal therapy could be accomplished with such a modest sum.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense includes Rahul Gandhi.

Reviewing healthcare facilities, resettlement regulations, and resources for ex-servicemen were on the agenda.

The racist murder of Tripura students Anjel Chakma in Dehradun was earlier sharply denounced by the Lok Sabha LoP, which also said that the BJP is “normalizing hate,” which is fueling these kinds of occurrences. Speaking out against Anjel Chakma’s violent attack, Rahul Gandhi called on people to “reflect and confront” rather than turn into a “dead society.”

Following the assault on MBA student Anjel Chakma and his brother Michael Chakma in Dehradun by a bunch of miscreants brandishing knives and other blunt items, Rahul Gandhi made his statement. Anjel Chakma passed away from his wounds in the hospital on December 9.

“A terrible hate crime occurred in Dehradun when Anjel Chakma and his brother Michael were killed. Hatred doesn’t just happen. For years, poisonous information and careless narratives have been feeding it on a regular basis, particularly to our young people. And the hateful leadership of the governing BJP is normalizing it,” the Lok Sabha LoP said in a statement on X.

“Respect and solidarity, not abuse and terror, are the foundation of India. We are a diverse and loving nation. We must not turn into a lifeless society that ignores the persecution of our fellow Indians. He said, “We need to take stock of what we are letting our nation become into.

Rahul Gandhi went on to show support for the Northeastern people and the Chakma family.

“The people of Tripura and the Northeast, as well as the Chakma family, are in my thoughts. “You are our fellow Indian brothers and sisters, and we are proud of that,” he remarked.

In relation to the event, five persons have already been taken into custody. Two of the accused are underage and have been placed in a juvenile reform facility. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been declared for an absconding accused person, and police are constantly conducting raids to apprehend them. According to the Uttarakhand CMO, a police team has also been sent to Nepal to look for the fugitive accused.
