Taiwan : discovers one ship, eleven ships, and six Chinese aircraft

Taiwan: As of 6 a.m. (local time) on Saturday, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense discovered six Chinese military aircraft missions, eleven navy vessels, and an official ship operating inside its territorial seas.

According to the Taiwanese Armed Forces, their response was appropriate.

The MND said in a post on X that “up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today, six PLA aircraft sorties, eleven PLAN vessels, and one official ship were detected operating around Taiwan.” The ROC Armed Forces have kept an eye on the situation and taken appropriate action.

Taiwan saw 11 navy boats and seven Chinese military aircraft operating in the area earlier on Friday.

“Up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today, we detected 7 PLA aircraft sorties and 11 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan,” the MND said in a post on X. The ROC Armed Forces have kept an eye on the situation and taken appropriate action.

According to the Taipei Times, National Security Bureau (NSB) Director-General Tsai Ming-yen said that China has sent two to four experts on Taiwan-related matters to its embassies in a number of democratic countries to monitor and intimidate Taiwanese, actions that the host nations are unlikely to tolerate.

Tsai made these statements at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee of the legislature, which asked him and Wellington Koo, the Minister of National Defense, to talk about military preparedness and possible Taiwan Strait conflicts.

According to the Taipei Times story, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmaker Michelle Lin expressed concerns that Beijing has sent staff from China’s Taiwan Affairs Office to its embassies overseas to monitor and harass Taiwanese exchange students, expats, and entrepreneurs.

Although he was unable to identify which nations are engaged, Tsai confirmed that China periodically dispatches two to four employees with knowledge of Taiwan-related matters to its overseas embassies.

Tsai told the Taipei Times that the bureau is keeping an eye on the issue and collaborating with local authorities to make sure Chinese officers do not harass Taiwanese nationals abroad.
