Protests – Delhi Police Register Fresh Case After Violence Near Parliament Protest

Protests –Authorities in the national capital have intensified legal action after violence erupted during an ongoing protest over the national examination paper leak issue. Delhi Police have registered a fresh case following incidents of stone-pelting and clashes in the Connaught Place area, where several senior police officers and personnel sustained injuries while performing crowd-control duties.

The unrest unfolded as demonstrators associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) continued their protest near Jantar Mantar, demanding accountability over the examination paper leak controversy. Security arrangements across central Delhi have been significantly strengthened to prevent further disturbances as authorities remain on high alert.

Senior Police Officers Among Those Injured

According to police officials, Assistant Commissioner of Police Jai Prakash of Punjabi Bagh and ACP Vivek Bhagat of Connaught Place were injured during the confrontation. Inspector Nand Kishore and several other police personnel also suffered injuries while responding to the situation.

Medical officials at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital stated that ACP Vivek Bhagat sustained multiple bruises on both his upper and lower limbs, along with injuries to his shoulder. Doctors also observed swelling at the back of his head during the medical examination. Hospital authorities said he received treatment following the incident.

ACP Describes Incident During Crowd Control

Speaking about the violence, ACP Jai Prakash said he was injured while deployed near Jantar Mantar as police attempted to prevent protesters from moving towards Parliament. He stated that a stone struck his forehead during the operation, causing the injury while officers were trying to maintain law and order.

The police have not disclosed the identities of those allegedly involved in the stone-pelting, and the investigation into the incident is continuing.

Multiple FIRs Registered Across New Delhi

Delhi Police have so far registered 10 First Information Reports linked to the demonstrations organised by the Cockroach Janta Party. Officials said the cases have been filed across different police station jurisdictions in the New Delhi district based on separate incidents and complaints arising during the protests.

Authorities said the legal proceedings relate to various law-and-order issues reported since the demonstrations began. Investigators are examining available evidence, including eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage, to establish the sequence of events.

Protest Organisers Reject Stone-Pelting Allegations

Responding to the allegations, CJP representative Abhijeet Dipke denied that protesters were responsible for the violence. He claimed that unidentified individuals had been brought from outside to create unrest and damage the credibility of the ongoing student movement.

Dipke told reporters that the protest had remained peaceful for nearly a month and argued that tensions escalated only after public participation increased. He alleged that political workers were attempting to provoke violence and tarnish the image of the demonstrators. His claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no official confirmation supporting the allegations.

Security Tightened Around Protest Venue

The latest developments come after earlier confrontations between protesters and police during a march towards Parliament earlier this week. During that incident, police used batons and tear gas to disperse crowds after tensions escalated. Delhi Police later reported that more than 100 personnel were injured, while CJP members accused the police of using excessive force during the operation.

With demonstrations continuing at Jantar Mantar, heavy security remains in place across the surrounding areas. Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers to regulate movement, prevent fresh clashes, and ensure public safety. Meanwhile, the protesters continue to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the examination paper leak controversy, even as authorities investigate the recent violence alongside the broader law-and-order situation.
