Uttar Pradesh: After a fog-induced pile-up on the Yamuna highway in busses catch fire, killing four people and injuring sixty-six

 Uttar Pradesh : A significant multi-vehicle crash on the Yamuna Expressway in the Mathura area early on Tuesday resulted in at least four fatalities and 66 injuries, according to authorities.

The collision happened on the Agra–Noida section of the motorway at approximately four in the morning, when there was very little visibility due to heavy fog.

The incident, which resulted in a fire, included at least seven buses and three automobiles. In order to contain the fire and free the trapped passengers, fire and emergency services raced to the scene and sent out eleven fire tenders.

The collision happened close to milestone 127 inside the boundaries of the Baldev police station, according to District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the police, and the fire department conducted rescue efforts under the supervision of senior authorities, including the DM and SSP.

The road remained shut and traffic on the highway was rerouted. Later, official cars were used to transport the stranded travelers to their destinations.

According to witnesses, there were tremendous explosions after the crash, and nearby people hurried to help with rescue operations.

According to a traveler from Lucknow to Delhi, the bus he was riding on abruptly stopped after passing through Agra, and other passengers pried open blocked doors to assist women and children in escaping.

Uttar Pradesh and other northern Indian states are experiencing widespread, thick fog at the time of the occurrence. There was almost no visibility in a number of places on Tuesday morning, including Agra, Prayagraj, Bareilly, and Moradabad.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, sent his sympathies to the victims’ families and instructed authorities to make sure the wounded were treated properly.

In recent days, the State has recorded a number of traffic incidents caused by fog. Thirty-one automobiles were involved in six accidents on Monday. Seven people were killed in six incidents involving 29 cars on Sunday, while four people were killed in eight accidents involving 40 vehicles on Saturday.
