Delhi: A 48-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside a temple; the suspect was taken into custody

Delhi : Police said a 48-year-old lady was fatally stabbed inside a temple in east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park neighborhood on Sunday. They further said that the weapon used in the incident was found and that a lady was subsequently taken into custody.

The man was praying when the crime happened at noon inside a temple within the DDA apartments complex, according to the police.
The police acknowledged that they got a PCR call at about 12 pm reporting the incident.

Kusum Sharma, a Mansarovar Park resident, was the victim. She had many knife wounds to her head and upper body. After being sent to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The main suspect, a lady called Anchal Saxena, has been taken into custody. Additionally, the weapon used in the incident has been found,” said DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam.

He continued by saying that the caller reported two people who had stabbed a female priest in the head to the police.

According to the officer, preliminary investigations show that two individuals, including the lady in custody, repeatedly struck Sharma with a knife, resulting in fatal injuries.

“At first look, it seems to be an ancient grudge, but further research is being done. The DCP said that many teams have been tasked with investigating the issue.

One of the suspects was arrested later that day, according to police, who said that several teams from the district and criminal departments were assembled to find them.

In order to track the assailants’ movements both before and after the incident, officers are reviewing CCTV video from the DDA apartments, surrounding streets, parks, and entry-exit locations.

“Forensic teams have inspected the spot, and footage from multiple locations in and around the area is being examined, and technical surveillance and local intelligence are being used to establish the identity of the other assailant,” the officer added.

Although the precise cause of the murder has not yet been determined, preliminary investigation suggests that it may have been a targeted assault or a case of personal animosity, according to authorities.

“Every aspect, including interpersonal conflicts, is being carefully examined. Nothing is being ruled out at this point,” the officer said.

To put together the timeline of events, locals, neighbors, and family members have been questioned.

The Mansarovar Park police station has registered a murder case, and other legal actions are in progress.
