As criticism continued to grow, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stepped in and advised Patil to publicly express regret over the incident. Shinde acknowledged that political rivalry has become increasingly bitter since the Shiv Sena split in 2022, with personal remarks often extending to family members. However, he maintained that elected representatives must continue to treat journalists with dignity and avoid confrontational behaviour during media interactions.
Shinde also said Patil’s anger stemmed from frustration over repeated personal attacks by political opponents rather than hostility toward the media.
