Sensex: Amid soaring global cues, the Sensex opens firm at 84,540.57 and the Nifty at 25,803.05 during early trading hours
Sensex: Due to sluggish Asian market trends and ongoing outflows of foreign funds, the equity benchmark indexes, the Sensex and Nifty, started the day on a high note on Thursday but quickly gave up all of their early gains to trade in the negative zone.

The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 149.3 points, or 0.17 percent, to 84,540.57 after opening higher. Additionally, the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 45.05 points to 25,803.05.
But as selling pressure increased, both major indexes reversed their gains, with the Nifty falling 50.90 points to 25,707.10 and the Sensex falling 222.39 points, or 0.26 percent, to 84,168.88.
Titan, PowerGrid, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Trent, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and ITC were the trailing companies among the Sensex members.
However, among the winners were Larsen & Toubro, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki India, and Bharat Electronics Ltd.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 in Japan, the SSE Composite in Shanghai, the Hang Seng in Hong Kong, and the KOSPI in South Korea were all trading down in Asian markets.
After the Federal Reserve lowered the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to a range of 3.5–3.75 percent at its December meeting, Wall Street closed higher in overnight trading on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, policymakers did not alter their September forecasts for the federal funds rate, indicating a single 25 basis point reduction in 2026.
According to exchange statistics, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 3,752.31 crore on Wednesday, while Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued to be the net sellers of shares worth Rs 1,651.06 crore.
The benchmark for world oil, Brent crude, increased by 0.03% to USD 62.23 a barrel.
The wider NSE Nifty plummeted 81.65 points to end at a month-low of 25,758 on Wednesday, while the 30-share BSE Sensex sank 275.01 points to conclude at 84,391.27.
