Infrastructure – Yogi Adityanath Targets Opposition While Unveiling Major Projects in Shamli
Infrastructure – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a sharp political attack on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, accusing both parties of promoting an ideology that, according to him, creates divisions within society. Speaking at a public event in Shamli, the Chief Minister said that lasting progress can only be achieved through development, while politics based on caste or regional differences weakens social harmony and creates instability. He also alleged that such approaches negatively affect public safety, particularly for women and the business community.

Development Projects Announced in Shamli
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 89 development projects with a combined investment of Rs 581 crore in Shamli district. The projects are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and improving public facilities across the region. Addressing the gathering, he said that sustained development remains the government’s primary objective and described the newly launched initiatives as part of the state’s broader growth strategy.
Comparing Present-Day Shamli With the Past
Referring to the changes witnessed over the past several years, Yogi Adityanath said that Shamli has undergone a significant transformation. He stated that before 2017, the district struggled with security concerns and limited development, but now it has become an example of how infrastructure and governance can improve everyday life. According to him, the district’s changing image reflects the impact of continuous public investment and administrative reforms.
Claims on Law and Order Improvements
The Chief Minister also highlighted what he described as improvements in law and order across the region. He claimed that earlier, criminal activities and fear had affected normal life, forcing many families to live under constant uncertainty. Women, he said, often felt unsafe stepping outside, while farmers faced severe hardships. He argued that stronger policing and government initiatives have helped create a more secure environment in recent years.
Expressway Network Expected to Boost Growth
Speaking about future opportunities, Yogi Adityanath pointed to several major road projects that are expected to enhance Shamli’s strategic importance. He said that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the Shamli-Ambala Expressway and the proposed Shamli-Gorakhpur Expressway would improve connectivity and position the district as a key economic centre in western Uttar Pradesh as well as the National Capital Region. Better transportation links, he noted, are expected to support business, investment and employment.
Focus on Agriculture and Industrial Progress
Highlighting the state’s economic performance, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country’s leading producer of sugarcane, sugar and ethanol. He contrasted the present situation with conditions a decade ago, stating that electricity supply and healthcare facilities in districts such as Shamli have improved considerably. He also said that the state government worked to revive the sugar sector after facing operational challenges in 2017, adding that 122 sugar mills are currently functioning across Uttar Pradesh.
Sugarcane Farmers and Historical Significance
Yogi Adityanath further stated that sugarcane growers are receiving Rs 400 per quintal and said that payment mechanisms have become more efficient than in previous years. Concluding his address, he referred to the historical importance of Shamli and Kairana during the Revolt of 1857. He also noted that the region has made valuable contributions to Indian classical music, giving it recognition beyond the state’s borders.
