Ghaziabad Development Authority: Over 500 jobs are anticipated when GDA develops Bunkar Mart as an exhibition and convention center in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad Development Authority: The under-construction Bunkar Mart in Madhuban Bapudham will be transformed into a Bunkar Mart-cum-Expo and Convention Center by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). The project is to provide small and major weavers and craftsmen a shared venue to exhibit and sell their goods. The GDA has asked private firms to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the facility’s management and upkeep.

More than 500 jobs are anticipated to be created by the project, which is anticipated to open to the public next year. In order to provide the state’s weavers with better facilities, market their goods under one roof, and provide employment possibilities, the Bunkar Mart initiative was first introduced in 2016 at an estimated cost of around Rs 200 crore. Nevertheless, the project was still unfinished after nine years. Construction has accelerated in recent months, and as of right now, 85% of the project is finished.
The administration is constructing the Bunkar Mart with the intention of turning it into a contemporary, expansive fair and conference center, modeled after Delhi’s Pragati Maidan and Dilli Haat. It is anticipated to function as a significant center that links talented craftspeople with both domestic and foreign markets once it is functioning. A private organization will be given control for its upkeep, operation, and general administration.
By facilitating direct communication with customers both domestically and internationally, the center is anticipated to assist weavers in obtaining reasonable rates for their goods. It is anticipated that holding regular expos, trade shows, seminars, and cultural events at the location would generate new job possibilities, especially in rural regions.
A 13,740 square meter auditorium with 560 seats is being built as part of the project. A museum, food courts on every story, a residential complex, conference and exhibition spaces, and shops of all sizes will also be part of the complex.
In order to provide the facilities to people from all walks of life, GDA Vice-Chairman Nand Kishor Kalal said that plans are in motion to open the Bunkar Mart as an exhibition and conference center the following year.
