Accident News – Deadly Highway Crashes in Uttar Pradesh Leave Several Dead
Accident News – A tragic series of road accidents in Uttar Pradesh claimed multiple lives on Monday, with a major bus overturning incident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao adding to growing concerns over highway safety in the state.

At least six passengers lost their lives and over 10 others suffered injuries after a private bus travelling from Delhi to Bihar overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Unnao district. Officials said the accident took place close to kilometre marker 262 within the Auras police station area after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
Bus Carrying Bihar-Bound Passengers Overturns
Authorities confirmed that several passengers sustained severe injuries in the crash and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals. Those in critical condition were later referred to the Lucknow Trauma Centre for specialised treatment.
Among those killed was sub-inspector Ramchandra, a police official from Bihar’s Siwan district. According to officials, he had travelled to Delhi along with a prisoner identified as Chhatrapal and was returning at the time of the accident. Police teams and emergency responders reached the spot soon after receiving information and began rescue operations.
The overturned vehicle caused temporary disruption on the expressway as local authorities worked to clear the damaged bus and assist injured passengers. Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Separate Barabanki Accident Claims Four Family Members
In another devastating incident reported earlier from Barabanki district, four members of a family, including three children, died after a speeding truck trailer ran over people sleeping outside their home late at night.
Police identified the deceased as 35-year-old Neeraj and three children — 13-year-old Anurag, 10-year-old Anshika and six-year-old Anshu. Officials stated that all four victims died at the scene due to the impact of the collision.
The accident reportedly occurred around 1 am when the trailer was travelling from the Mahmoodabad side. Eyewitnesses and local residents said the heavy vehicle suddenly went out of control before crushing the family members sleeping outside their house. The truck later collided with a roadside tree and came to a halt.
Woman Undergoing Treatment in Lucknow
Neeraj’s wife, Aarti, suffered serious injuries in the incident. She was first taken to the district hospital trauma centre and later shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Lucknow for advanced medical care.
Villagers claimed that frequent power outages and intense heat had forced the family to sleep outside their home during the night. Some local residents also alleged that the truck driver may not have been behind the steering wheel at the time of the accident and that the helper was allegedly driving the vehicle.
Panic Among Residents After Night-Time Collision
The incident created panic in the locality as residents rushed out after hearing loud noises and cries for help. Locals assisted police personnel in shifting the injured woman to the hospital while authorities secured the accident site.
Police have begun further investigation into the Barabanki accident, including the condition of the truck driver and the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control.
The two separate accidents have once again highlighted concerns surrounding road safety, driver fatigue and vehicle management on highways and rural roads in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities are expected to review both incidents as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety measures across the state.
