ConflictEscalation – Iran announced on Friday that it had launched a new series of military operations targeting United States military facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, further escalating the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington. The announcement came only hours after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American forces had carried out a seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military-related targets. The latest exchange marks another significant step in the rapidly worsening security situation across the Middle East, where both sides have continued to respond with military action following the collapse of diplomatic efforts.
Iran Details Latest Military Operation
Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), released separate statements attributed to the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), outlining the latest operations. According to the Iranian Army, the attacks formed part of the 14th phase of what it called “Operation Lightning.”
Iranian officials said drones were deployed against several US military installations in Kuwait and Jordan. The military claimed that the strikes targeted ammunition storage facilities, headquarters buildings and communications infrastructure at Al-Udairi Camp and Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The statement described Al-Udairi Camp as an important logistics centre supporting American forces, while Ali Al-Salem Air Base was identified as a major location for coordinating US air operations throughout the Gulf region.
Claims of Additional Strikes in Jordan and Bahrain
The Iranian Army also stated that fuel storage facilities at Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan were hit during the same operation. It described the installation as an important base supporting regional military activities because of its strategic location.
In a separate announcement, the IRGC claimed responsibility for what it referred to as the 17th phase of “Operation Nasr 2.” According to the organisation, the operation targeted a US drone storage facility in Bahrain. The IRGC alleged that the strike destroyed unmanned aerial vehicle storage areas and ignited multiple drones.
The statement further claimed that ballistic missiles and numerous drones struck what it described as a major artificial intelligence centre connected to US operations in Bahrain. These claims have not been independently verified.
Tehran Links Action to Earlier US Strikes
Iran said the latest military action was carried out in response to overnight American attacks, which it alleged damaged bridges and resulted in civilian casualties inside Iran. The Iranian statements argued that continued attacks on the country’s transport infrastructure would prompt additional retaliation.
Iran also warned that future US military operations could lead to strikes against industrial, information technology and artificial intelligence facilities associated with American companies in countries hosting US military bases. Tehran further maintained that regional nations allowing US military deployments shared responsibility for the attacks carried out against Iran.
US Confirms Seventh Consecutive Night of Operations
Shortly before Iran’s announcements, the US Central Command confirmed another round of military operations against Iranian targets. In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the strikes were conducted at the direction of the Commander in Chief and represented the seventh straight night of operations.
According to the US military, the campaign is intended to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities. American officials have not publicly commented on Iran’s claims regarding the reported strikes in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The latest military exchanges come as relations between Washington and Tehran remain at one of their lowest points in recent years. Hostilities have intensified following the collapse of a 14-point memorandum of understanding that had previously served as a framework for dialogue between the two countries.
With both governments continuing to exchange military strikes, regional security concerns have grown significantly. Analysts are closely monitoring developments, as further escalation could have wider implications for stability across the Gulf and the broader Middle East.
