Accident – Ambulance Crash in Tirupati Leaves Four Dead, Two Injured

Early Morning Collision on Rural Road
The incident took place around 3:45 am near Uranduru village, within the jurisdiction of the Srikalahasti rural police station. According to initial reports from local authorities, a truck had been stationed along the roadside after its driver stepped away, leaving the vehicle unattended.
At the same time, a Mahindra Bolero ambulance was travelling a long-distance route from West Bengal to Bengaluru. The vehicle was carrying a patient along with family members, heading toward a private hospital for medical treatment.
High Speed and Driver Fatigue Suspected
Police officials stated that the ambulance was moving at considerable speed when it crashed into the rear of the stationary truck. Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have been fatigued and possibly drowsy, which could have delayed his reaction time and prevented him from noticing the parked vehicle ahead.
The force of the impact caused severe damage to the ambulance, leaving passengers trapped inside. Authorities believe that exhaustion from continuous driving over a long distance may have contributed significantly to the crash.
Victims Identified by Authorities
There were six individuals inside the ambulance when the accident occurred. Four of them died at the scene due to the intensity of the collision. The deceased were identified as Bojon Doloi, the patient being transported, his wife Tagori Doloi, his brother Jatin Doloi, and Jitesh Pandit, who was serving as the second driver.
The two survivors, Geeta Chakravarti, a relative of the family, and Rakesh Pandit, the primary driver, sustained serious injuries. All those involved in the incident were residents of the Hooghly district in West Bengal.
Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts
Following the accident, local police teams rushed to the site and initiated rescue operations. With the help of a crane, the damaged ambulance was carefully moved to allow access to those trapped inside. The injured were promptly shifted to the Area Hospital in Srikalahasti for urgent medical care.
The bodies of the deceased were also transported to the same hospital for post-mortem procedures, as per standard protocol.
Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case and begun a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. While driver fatigue has emerged as a primary suspected cause, officials are also examining other factors, including road visibility, lighting conditions, and vehicle positioning.
