The contest delivered several standout moments, but one of the biggest talking points came early in RCB’s chase when young pacer Prince Yadav dismissed Virat Kohli for a duck after just two deliveries. Despite claiming one of the most prized wickets in world cricket, Prince said the team’s victory meant far more to him than the personal achievement.

Prince Yadav Reflects on Key Breakthrough

Speaking after the match, the Lucknow fast bowler explained that while removing Kohli was memorable, the overall result remained his biggest satisfaction.

Prince stated that individual milestones lose significance if the team fails to secure victory. According to him, helping Lucknow Super Giants earn two important points was the most rewarding aspect of the night.

The youngster also discussed the guidance he has been receiving from LSG bowling coach Bharat Arun and senior India pacer Mohammed Shami. He described the conversations with both experienced figures as constructive and beneficial for his development.

Guidance From Mohammed Shami Boosting Young Bowlers

Prince praised Shami’s presence within the squad and credited the veteran fast bowler for helping younger players understand the finer aspects of bowling with the new ball.

He mentioned that Shami frequently positions himself close to the action during overs, offering support and encouragement from the field. Prince added that having an experienced international cricketer nearby creates confidence and helps younger bowlers remain composed under pressure.

The right-arm pacer further said that the advice shared by Shami has improved his awareness regarding line, length and match situations.

Marsh Leads Lucknow’s Strong Batting Display

Earlier in the evening, Lucknow Super Giants posted an imposing total after explosive batting from Mitchell Marsh. The Australian batter played one of the standout innings of the season, smashing 111 runs from just 56 balls.

His innings included nine boundaries and nine sixes as LSG reached 209 for 3 in 19 overs. The match had been shortened due to repeated rain interruptions, increasing the pressure on both teams to accelerate scoring.

Marsh dominated the RCB bowling attack throughout the innings and ensured Lucknow maintained momentum despite the weather-related breaks.

RCB Fight Back Despite Early Setbacks

Royal Challengers Bengaluru struggled in the opening phase of the chase after losing early wickets, including Kohli. However, a strong partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and captain Rajat Patidar brought the visitors back into contention.

Padikkal contributed 34 runs from 25 deliveries, while Patidar played an aggressive knock of 61 off 31 balls. Their 95-run stand revived RCB’s hopes and shifted pressure back onto the home side.

Late contributions from Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd kept Bengaluru in the contest during the closing overs. David struck a rapid 40 from only 17 balls, while Krunal and Shepherd continued the attack in the final stages.

Despite the late resistance, RCB ultimately finished nine runs short of the target as Lucknow’s bowlers held their nerve in the closing moments.

Points Table Impact After Thrilling Encounter

The result marked Lucknow Super Giants’ third victory of the IPL 2026 campaign. Although the team remains at the bottom of the standings, the win provided a significant morale boost after a difficult start to the season.

For Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defeat represented their fourth loss of the tournament. The result also caused them to slip to third position in the league table as competition for playoff spots continues to intensify.
