Nivesh Pal, fighting in the 54kg category, registered one of the most dominant wins of the day. He outclassed Japan’s Shingen Kanai with a unanimous 5-0 decision. His sharp movement and consistent scoring punches helped him control the bout from start to finish.
Another standout performance came from Naman Kumar in the 70kg class. The Indian boxer overwhelmed Tajikistan’s Ruzibek Miravotov and secured a convincing 5-0 victory. His confident approach and aggressive combinations kept his opponent under pressure throughout the contest.
Lakshay Phogat Advances With Comfortable Victory
Lakshay Phogat also impressed in the 75kg division by defeating Cheng-En Li of Chinese Taipei. The Indian boxer secured a clinical 5-0 result to move into the last four stage of the championship. His balanced attack and defensive awareness proved too strong for his rival.
The semifinal qualification of these athletes highlighted the depth of India’s emerging boxing talent at the continental level. With medals already guaranteed, the focus will now shift toward securing gold medal finishes in the upcoming rounds.
Tough Day for Three Indian Contenders
While several Indian boxers progressed successfully, a few campaigns ended in the quarterfinal stage against strong opposition from Kazakhstan.
Karung Albertson, competing in the 60kg category, suffered a 0-5 defeat against Emir Mukhit. In the 66kg division, Ranveer was beaten by Islam Suleimanogly through another unanimous decision.
In the heavyweight section above 80kg, Siddhant also faced a difficult challenge and went down 0-5 against Sabyrzhan Sagym, bringing his run in the competition to an end.
Despite those setbacks, India’s overall performance remained highly encouraging as multiple young boxers continued their pursuit of podium finishes at the prestigious continental tournament.
