Women Empowerment – Punjab is preparing for a major welfare initiative aimed at supporting women financially, with the state government scheduled to transfer the first round of benefits under the Mukhya Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana on July 1. Kejriwal Congratulates Women Beneficiaries

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal extended his greetings to the women of Punjab ahead of the upcoming disbursement. In a message shared on social media, he congratulated mothers, daughters, and sisters across the state and highlighted that beneficiaries would receive payments covering three months in a single installment.

According to Kejriwal, women belonging to the General category will receive ₹3,000, while women from Scheduled Caste families will be credited ₹4,500. He also noted that if multiple eligible women reside within the same household, each individual beneficiary will receive the designated financial assistance separately.

The scheme, introduced by the Punjab government, is designed to strengthen the financial security of women by providing regular monetary support. Under the programme, eligible women from SC families are entitled to assistance of ₹1,500 per month, while payments for women in the General category are being released according to the approved structure for the initial phase.

Officials have stated that the amount scheduled for transfer includes dues pending from April along with advance support, ensuring that beneficiaries receive assistance for a three-month period at one time. The funds will be credited directly into bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Mann Government Highlights Welfare Focus

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced that the first installment under the scheme would reach beneficiaries on July 1. The state government views the programme as one of its key welfare measures focused on improving the economic well-being of women.

Authorities expect lakhs of women across Punjab to benefit from the initiative. Supporters of the programme believe it could provide meaningful financial relief to families while encouraging greater economic participation and independence among women.

Political Significance Ahead of Future Elections

The announcement comes amid increasing political activity in Punjab. Earlier this month, Kejriwal suggested that the next Punjab Assembly elections could take place sooner than previously anticipated. While elections are generally expected in early 2027, he indicated that polling may be held as early as November this year.

During a public roadshow in Bathinda, Kejriwal expressed confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and stated that the party would seek another term under his leadership. The event was attended by senior AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Aman Arora.

Civic Poll Performance Boosts Party Confidence

AAP leaders have also pointed to the party’s recent performance in local civic elections as a positive sign. Addressing supporters during the Bathinda roadshow, Kejriwal thanked voters for backing the party and credited the results to public support for the government’s policies and welfare programmes.

With the first installment of the women-centric scheme approaching, the Punjab government is expected to focus on ensuring smooth implementation while highlighting the programme as a major component of its social welfare agenda.
