WaterSupplyUpdate – Residents across several parts of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) region will face a temporary interruption in water supply on June 2 as civic authorities move ahead with a scheduled conservation exercise. The water shutdown, which will remain in effect from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, has been planned as part of broader efforts to manage water resources efficiently ahead of the monsoon season.

Preventive Measure Ahead of Monsoon

According to municipal officials, the decision follows discussions held with the Water Resources Department on May 14, 2026. During the meeting, government agencies and local authorities reviewed projections related to rainfall patterns and reservoir management for the coming months. The move comes after weather forecasts highlighted the possible influence of El Niño conditions, which can affect rainfall distribution and water availability.

Authorities stated that municipal corporations, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and other concerned agencies have agreed to implement coordinated water conservation measures whenever necessary. The objective is to reduce the risk of water shortages if rainfall levels fall below expectations during the monsoon period.

Water Treatment Facilities to Remain Offline

As part of the scheduled exercise, water supply operations from KDMC’s major treatment facilities at Barave, Mohili, Netivali, and Titwala will remain suspended for 12 hours. Officials clarified that the temporary shutdown is intended to support long-term water management planning and ensure sufficient reserves are maintained for future needs.

The civic administration emphasized that such preventive actions are being carried out in a planned manner to minimize inconvenience while strengthening preparedness for potential challenges during the rainy season.

Areas Affected by the Water Cut

The interruption will impact a wide range of locations under the KDMC jurisdiction. Water supply services will remain unavailable throughout Kalyan East and Kalyan West during the scheduled period. Several rural areas connected to the Kalyan region will also be affected, including Manda-Titwala, Vadavali, Ambivli, Shahad, Atali, and nearby villages.

In addition, residents living in Dombivli East and Dombivli West will experience the same 12-hour suspension. Normal supply is expected to resume after 8:00 pm once operations at the treatment centres are restored.

Appeal to Residents

Municipal authorities have requested citizens to make necessary arrangements before the shutdown begins. Residents have been advised to store only the amount of water required for essential household use and avoid unnecessary wastage.

Officials also sought public cooperation during the temporary disruption, noting that the measure forms part of a larger strategy aimed at safeguarding water availability in the months ahead. The administration assured residents that every effort is being made to balance conservation needs with public convenience while ensuring the region remains prepared for any fluctuations in seasonal water resources.
