Waqf – Chhattisgarh has completed the digital registration of all 2,016 Waqf properties in the state under the Central Government’s new online verification framework. The records have been uploaded to the central portal and cleared after document checks, according to officials of the Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board.

Central Portal Clears State Property Records

The central system released its latest verified list this month, confirming that documents submitted by the Chhattisgarh Waqf Board were accepted without objections. State Waqf Board Chairman Salim Raj said the verification process was completed smoothly, with every listed property receiving approval from the authorities.

The exercise was part of a nationwide effort to create a consolidated digital database of Waqf assets. States were directed to submit district-wise property details through the central portal by June 30. Chhattisgarh met the deadline and included records related to mosques, dargahs and other registered Waqf holdings.

Board Plans Action Against Illegal Occupation

With the records now formally verified, the State Waqf Board is preparing to begin action against alleged encroachments on its land and buildings. Board officials said several valuable properties have reportedly been occupied illegally over time, including by influential individuals.

The board intends to start a statewide campaign to recover such assets and has set a target of clearing illegal occupation within about two months. Raj said legal action, including the registration of FIRs, would be considered against anyone found obstructing the recovery process.

The planned drive will focus on properties where ownership and documentation have already been confirmed through the central system. Officials believe that the digital record will help the board establish its claims more effectively before administrative and legal authorities.

Assets Estimated at Around Rs 9,000 Crore

The Chhattisgarh Waqf Board’s registered assets are estimated to be worth nearly Rs 9,000 crore. Urban properties account for around Rs 6,500 crore of that value, while holdings in rural parts of the state are valued at more than Rs 2,500 crore.

Central data also places Chhattisgarh ahead of several smaller states and Union Territories in the number of registered Waqf properties. The state’s complete verification record stands out at a time when the central authorities have raised objections to more than one lakh property entries nationwide because of missing or incomplete documentation.

Mutavallis Asked to Maintain Portal Records

The board has also reiterated the responsibilities of Mutavallis, who manage Waqf properties on behalf of the institution. Each Mutavalli is required to create and maintain an account on the official Waqf Board portal.

After submitting required documents and verified identification details, Mutavallis are expected to oversee the administration, upkeep and lawful management of the properties registered under their charge. The board said maintaining updated online records would improve accountability and reduce disputes over ownership or management.

Officials said the completed digitisation process marks an important step in safeguarding Waqf assets in Chhattisgarh. The next phase will focus on ensuring that verified properties remain protected and are used in accordance with their intended purpose.
