VisaFraud – Jaipur Airport Arrests Expose Suspected Fake Iraq Visa Racket

VisaFraud –  Rajasthan Police have intensified an investigation into a suspected interstate visa fraud operation after three men were detained at Jaipur International Airport while allegedly attempting to board a flight to Iraq using forged travel documents.

The arrests were made by the Jaipur East Airport Police after airport authorities identified irregularities during routine verification of travel papers. Officials confirmed that three fake tourist visas linked to Iraq were recovered during the operation, raising concerns about a wider network involved in arranging illegal overseas travel.

Suspicion Raised During Airport Screening

According to police officials, the accused reached Jaipur airport on Tuesday with plans to travel to Baghdad. During the standard immigration and document screening process, airport staff reportedly noticed inconsistencies in the visas presented by the passengers. The suspicious documents prompted further questioning by security personnel and immigration authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ranjita Sharma said the three individuals were later taken into custody after investigators found the visas to be forged. The accused have been identified as Suresh Kumar, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, Alok Kumar Singh from Patna in Bihar, and Rupesh Yadav from East Champaran district in Bihar.

Agent Allegedly Arranged Fraudulent Visas

During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly informed police that they had earlier failed to travel using their original multiple-entry Iraq visas. Investigators believe they later contacted a Jaipur-based travel agent identified as Mukesh Lakhar, who allegedly assured them that fresh tourist visas could be arranged.

Police sources stated that the three men arrived in Jaipur on May 17 following instructions from the suspected agent. They were reportedly accommodated at a hotel located in the Polo Victory area of the city while preparations for the journey were being made.

Investigators further alleged that the agent provided the forged visas shortly before departure and instructed the travellers on how to answer questions from immigration officials at the airport.

Fake Travel Explanation Triggered Doubts

Police said the accused were allegedly coached to tell authorities that they were travelling to Baghdad to repair a machine originally shipped from Jaipur that had developed a technical problem. However, officials conducting the verification process reportedly found the explanation unconvincing and continued questioning the passengers.

As interrogation continued, the trio allegedly became nervous, which further increased suspicion among airport officials. The men were subsequently detained and later formally arrested after investigators confirmed irregularities in the documents they were carrying.

Authorities have registered a case at the Airport Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials said the matter is being treated seriously due to the possibility of an organised network supplying forged visas and facilitating illegal international travel.

Wider Network Under Investigation

Police teams are now focusing on identifying others linked to the suspected operation, including agents and intermediaries who may have helped prepare forged travel documents. Investigators are also examining whether similar cases involving fake visas have occurred in other states.

Officials confirmed that all three accused have been produced before a court and remain under interrogation as the investigation continues. Police believe further questioning may help uncover additional members of the network and reveal how the forged visas were prepared and distributed.

Security agencies have also been alerted to monitor possible links between interstate travel agents and international document fraud operations. Authorities said airport surveillance and immigration checks remain critical in preventing illegal overseas travel attempts using forged documents.
