VCK Questions- A Raja’s Political Advice as Tamil Nadu Debate Intensifies
VCK Questions- Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) MLA Vanni Arasu has strongly criticised senior DMK leader A Raja over his recent political remarks, alleging that the veteran leader is pushing the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in a direction that resembles the Bharatiya Janata Party’s political approach. The comments come at a time when political discussions within Tamil Nadu’s opposition continue to draw public attention.

VCK Leader Challenges A Raja’s Remarks
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Vanni Arasu questioned A Raja’s recent statements and claimed they lacked political balance. According to the VCK legislator, Raja has repeatedly made controversial remarks following the party’s electoral setback and is now attempting to influence the DMK’s future strategy in a manner that could alter its traditional political identity.
Arasu argued that such suggestions do not reflect the values long associated with the DMK and warned against adopting a political course that, in his view, resembles the BJP’s style of functioning.
A Raja Calls for Independent Electoral Strategy
The criticism followed A Raja’s recent advice to DMK president MK Stalin, in which he urged the party leadership to declare that the DMK would contest all future elections on its own instead of relying on alliance partners.
His remarks have sparked discussion within political circles, with observers debating whether the proposal represents a strategic shift or an internal suggestion aimed at strengthening the party after recent electoral challenges.
Heated Exchanges in the Tamil Nadu Assembly
Political tensions were also visible inside the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly earlier this week. On June 23, DMK legislators staged a walkout after Chief Minister Vijay criticised the opposition during his address while participating in the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address.
As the debate intensified, DMK members raised slogans inside the House, leading to repeated interruptions. Speaker JCD Pabhakar, along with members of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), appealed to the opposition to allow the Chief Minister to complete his speech without disruption.
Allegations Over Political Alliances
The DMK has accused the ruling side of encouraging political realignment after alliance partners, including Congress, CPI(M), and other parties, extended support to the government. However, Chief Minister Vijay rejected those allegations and maintained that parties such as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian Union Muslim League had made their decisions independently without external influence.
He stated that accusations suggesting the government orchestrated their support were inconsistent with claims that those parties acted on their own political judgment.
Chief Minister Targets Previous Administration
During his address, Vijay also criticised the previous government led by MK Stalin on several governance issues. He referred to the prolonged discussions over the appointment of the state’s Director General of Police and said the position had been filled only after his government assumed office.
The Chief Minister further raised concerns about the rise in drug-related offences, questioning why the situation had not been effectively addressed during the previous administration despite the police department being under its control.
Vijay emphasised that democratic institutions should encourage fair questioning and constructive debate rather than political confrontation. He also asserted that his administration would continue pursuing corruption cases and promised that individuals found responsible for wrongdoing would face legal action without exception.
