Uttarakhand: Rescue efforts are underway as a bus plunges down a ravine near Almora, possibly killing at least seven people
Uttarakhand: On Tuesday morning, a bus transporting a number of people fell into a steep gorge close to Bhikiyasain in the Almora district. Six to seven people are thought to have died in the accident, according to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

After the distress call, rescue personnel from the SDRF were sent to the scene of the accident right away.
For medical attention, the wounded have been sent to the Government Hospital in Bhikiyasain.
“Rescue personnel have been sent to the location. Some deaths have been reported,” Almora SSP Devendra Pincha said.
CM Dhami conveys sorrow
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, has expressed his sorrow over the occurrence. CM Dhami said that he was in communication with the district government and that the wounded were receiving the assistance they needed.
“We have learned about a very upsetting bus accident on the Bikhiyasain-Vinayak Motor Road, which was traveling from Bikhiyasain to Ramnagar in the Almora district and resulted in passenger injuries. “This incident is heartbreaking and extremely painful,” CM Dhami wrote on X.
“The district government is quickly admitting the accident’s wounded passengers to local hospitals. For better care, the severely wounded have been sent to cutting-edge medical facilities. I keep in close communication with the local administrative officials, and the whole situation is constantly monitored,” he said.
MP Ajay Tamta of Almora-Pithoragarh laments
Almora-Pithoragarh MP and Union Minister Ajay Tamta has also expressed his sorrow over the event. According to him, a thorough rescue effort including police and rescue crews resulted in the hospitalization of the wounded for medical attention.
It is really sad and upsetting to learn about the terrible traffic accident that happened on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak route in the Almora area. According to reports, a bus went off the road and fell into a canyon, killing or injuring many people, Tamta said on X.
“Teams from the administration and police arrived on the scene as soon as information about the incident was received and are involved in the rescue operation. Medical facilities are being promptly provided to the injured for treatment,” he said.
