Update on the Indore Metro: The state will pay an additional Rs 900 crore, and a key section will be subterranean to reduce traffic congestion
Update on the Indore Metro: In order to alleviate traffic congestion and address public concerns, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Sunday that a 3.3-kilometer section of the Indore Metro, which passes through some of the most crowded residential and commercial areas of the city, will now be built underground rather than as an elevated corridor.

He went on to say that the state government will be responsible for the increased anticipated cost of around Rs 900 crore as a result of the alignment modification. According to authorities, the first proposal for the 31.32-kilometer Indore Metro project was priced at Rs 7,500.8 crore.
“We have decided that construction of a key section of the Metro rail line in the city will now be carried out underground,” he told reporters after the meeting. Better traffic control, public comfort, and the growth and attractiveness of the city were all taken into consideration while making the choice.
Metro Project Update 1. Since 2019, work has been going on to build the city’s Metro line.
2. In heavily populated residential and commercial districts, the project has encountered ongoing challenges.
3. Because the project would interfere with everyday life and company operations, locals have rejected it.
4. By altering a portion of the route, the Metro project would cost an extra Rs 800-900 crore, which will be covered by the state exchequer.
5. Because the area is crowded with homes and businesses, officials said the Metro would run underground for 3.3 km between Khajrana Square and the train station instead of the originally planned elevated line.
6. In order to establish the Indore Metropolitan Area as a significant national center for commerce, manufacturing, and tourism, the chief minister said that it would be expanded to 14,000 square kilometers, including Indore and portions of the districts of Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar, Ratlam, and Shajapur.
In the meanwhile, Yadav lay the foundation stone for a new structure at the city’s state-run Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH). According to authorities, the Rs 773-crore facility would have 1,450 patient beds, making it one of the biggest government hospitals in the state.
